Re: Optimal Settings

Picture +13
Bright +9
Color -3
Tint -1
Sharpness -10
Temp Normal

I think this provides the best color to my eye, by everyone will be a bit different. For instance, I think factory Vivid is too saturated (like most LCDs) and the whites in Cinema are too blue. It's personal choice really.

What are the optimal settings for color, tint and sharpness on a panasonic tc-l26x1?

those setting are adjustable so you can adjust to your personal preferance but reset back to factory or dynamic is good but i would suggest you play with the settings to your taste put on a newws show and asjust the briteness and contrast so you can see the seperation of a mans lapel color to just below half tint in the middle fase tone so people look naterial

What is the optimal cable type to connect the Samsung UN55B8500 to a DirecTV HD tuner? Are there specific TV settings to use for this cable type

The best cable hook up to use is the just the one HDMI cable. Just hook it up from box to TV and change the input selection on your TV to HDMI. Then on the Directv Box, change the resolution to 1080 for the best image.

My Samsung LNT3253H LCD TV has suddenly started changing its own settings (e.g. picture mode keeps switching to ''dynamic'' and the ''light effect'' keeps setting itself to ''always on''). Any thoughts on...

Its in "Shop Mode".

Change your source to TV (analogue), now press menu>find "Plug and Play" and select it and runs through the setup and selct "Home" prompted and not "Shop".

That should sort its out, when its in shop mode its doesn't matter how many times you make changes, when you power it off it will go back to the original shop settings, this feature was built in to allow shops the have all show TV's to run at optimal settings and if a customer played about with the settings it would matter as they are reset again when the TV is switched off and the store staff don't have to go around resetting all the TV's at the end of the day.

Optimal Settings

There are no perfect settings. Most people leave the controlls in the middel. The controls are for you to adjust the picture to where you like it the most. Keep in mine that the picture can be different from one chnnel to the other. Try to find a happy medium for all channels.
