Microphone Headset not working

I am having trouble getting my mic to work. I am running vista and it was working a month ago but I reformatted my pc and now I cant get it to work. I looked in 'manage audio devices' through the control panel and the only thing there is my speakers. I dont know if that is the problem and if it is I cant find a way to get my headset in there. Any help would be much appreciated.

It could be that it deleted all your drivers and did you try right clicking in the bottom right corner on the speaker thing and clicking on recording devices double click microphone and click on the levels tab and make sure there all up.

My detachable mic isn't working

Have you tested the headsets on a PC? Just plug the USB into a PC and double check if the microphone is working.

If it isn't and you bought the headsets less then 12 months ago you can e-mail Tritton/MadCatz for a spare microphone.

Hope it helps...

Hi, Internal microphone on my acer aspire 8920g which originally has vista is not working now on windows 7. To be honest I didn't pay attention while I had vista and can't now remember if it worked at...

I suggest you go into control panel and device manager and see if your internal mic is listed there. If it is right click on it and see if it is selected as your default mic. I believe it may be un-selected. If that doesn't work I would just use the external mic with Skype as the internal mics with most laptops aren't that good anyway.

My Saitek GH20 Headset Mic Buzzing

Hello.

I had the same problem for like ten minutes ago. I have a Swedish Vista computer and don't know all the translations but I'll give it a go.
This will reduce the buzzing not remove it.

Go to the control panel and click "sound". From there go to "recording" And double click on the microphone. You should get a new screen up. Click to the second button "Levels". Now drag the "microphonestrenghning" (the bottom one) and drag it down to 0 DB.
(optional) Drag the "Microphone" up to 100.

Hope this help you. It worked for me at least. :D

Computer Does Not Detect Headset Microphone

Sound and Recording jacks stop working on the DV6000 series due to the ribbon cable running under the power button. when the power button is pushed it bends the flex cable and over time it breaks the connection rendering the front jacks useless you can buy a new upper button panel for about 20 dollars on ebay

Cannot get microphone to work while connected to computer.

I found this on the Turtle Beach website: ________________________________________
Let's make absolutely sure that the microphone in your headset is working correctly. If the mic is working, a replacement talkback cable should fix it. If not, then please send in your name, shipping address, the name of the store where you purchased your X1 and the date (month/day/year) of purchase.
OK, here's how to test the X1 using the Microphone input on your PC:
1) Take the pink plug from the X1 and plug it into the pink jack (Microphone input) on your PC's soundcard.
2) Take the green plug from the X1 and plug it into the green jack (Front L/R Out or Line Out) on your PC's soundcard.
3) Take the USB plug from the X1 and insert it into a USB port on the PC (not a USB hub, please).
4) In the soundcard's control software, enable the Microphone for playback. In the Microphone > Advanced settings, enable the Microphone Boost. Make sure the Microphone is not muted (Mute switch is not enabled).
5) Adjust the volume for the Microphone to about half-way up.
6) Adjust the overall playback volume to about half-way up.
7) Put on the headset. Make sure the Mute switch on the X1 amp box is not set to Mute (the LED should be green).
Now speak into the microphone. Do you hear your voice in the headphones? If so, the mic works and your X1 headphones should be OK. If you still cannot get the X1 mic to work over Xbox Live, then you need to take a closer look at Dashboard settings and other connections, or check the integrity of your X1-Xbox Controller Cable.

******************************
In order to enable the chat make sure that the Mute button in the Off position. If it is on the ON position the Mic will not work.
Red = Muted Green = UN-Muted

If you're having trouble adjusting the Mic in Windows:
WINDOWS XP:
For Windows XP, there's a nice video on YouTube that takes you through all the steps of setting up your microphone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vissxo8furo

WINDOWS VISTA:
Please follow these instructions to configure your microphone within Windows Vista:
1. Left-click on the Start button. The Start Menu will appear.
2. Left-click on Control Panel. The Control Panel will open.
3. Left-click on the Hardware and Sound option. The Hardware and Sound window will open.
4. Left-click on the Sound option. The Sound window will open.
5. Left-click on Recording from the three tabs at the top of the Sound window. While in the Recording tab of the Sound window, you will see all options available for recording - Microphone should be one of them. (If you don’t see an option for Microphone, ensure your microphone is plugged into your computer using the jacks commonly located on either the front or back of the machine.)
6. Left-click on the Microphone option to highlight it. This will enable the Properties button toward the bottom-right of the window. Left-click on the Properties button.
7. You should see the Properties for your recording (input) devices. One of these should be Microphone.
8. Left-click on the Levels tab (or similar). Adjust the Level (Volume) and Mic Boost controls to at least half-way up. If your Mic Boost control is a simple check box, please make sure it is checked (Enabled). You should hear your microphone in your headset or speakers.
Once the levels are adjusted to your satisfaction, left-click OK and OK to save your settings. You can then close the Control Panel.
Your microphone should now be ready!

I just bought a GE Portable headset with detachable MIC

I had the same problem, but fixed it. All you have to do is:
(I have a Dell Laptop)
1. Go to the control panel
2. Go to the sounds, speech and audio devices
3. You are supposed to see the icon that belongs to your sound card (Mine is SigmaTel Audio), click on it
4. Activate the port where the microphone is connected, close
5. Configure your microphone as you normally would
6. It should work

Microphone(MIC)Of head set not working(got removed wrongly)

This usually just gets reinstalled whenever you restart your computer be it Vista or XP. In your case, the drivers for the Microphone probably got deleted. The Microphone driver comes in the package together with the sound card. You'll have to re-install the whole sound card driver to have it start working again. You can do this from the Device Manager. After doing this, the microphone together with the whole sound card drivers should start working again.
