Scanning to computer

I have an officejet v40 and can copy from my computer to the copier, but cannot scan from the officejet to the computer. It says, not connected to the computer. Thank you Melinda Richardson

    even though this works, is there a way to get the "Director" to come up on the screen? Everytime I click on the "Director", the service starts, but nothing happens.



    I like the "Director". it's very usefull and a great tool!!

    Do you have the HP Director software installed?

    This software is required on the PC for the scanning function to work. It is different to the basic driver required just to print.

    If you have this installed can you start it and see if you have a scan option within that?

I had the same problem if I use the buttons on the v40 and try to scan. I get the V40 can not connect to the PC message.

Workaround:

Go to Control Panel-->Scanners and Cameras

In there you will find: Hewlett-Packard OfficeJet V40 Scanner

Right click and select Scan. It will then start the scan wizard which will scan your document.

Hello,

The line issue is caused by something on the image sensor. To get to it and clean it just pull the front up where you put the paper into it to scan. Inside you will find a glass strip, this is the image sensor. Use a paper towel dampened with window cleaner and gently scrubbing the glass strip, After cleaning the strip let it dry for a minute or teo before you close the cover and try a scan. It should be clear and should copy great again.

When I press the scan button on my hp officejet it says options not set. How do I set the options??


If you have solution center installed
then open the Solution Center
Go to settings--- scan settings - scan button settings- Front panel scan button settings
configure the same over there and it will start working fine

I have a vista, my hp officejet v40 won't scan


Hello,
I had a similar problem with my Canon Mp 600 there were compatibility issues with Vista, I went to Canon's website and downloaded patches and drivers for the all in one to bond with Vista.
Perhaps a visit to www.hewlettpackard.com and a sniff on their support and downloads page might glean the necessary files/drivers you require?

The scanner keeps saying that my USB is not plugged in and it is


There is a workaround without messing with drivers. I have the same problem if I use the buttons on the v40 and try to scan. I get the V40 can not connect to the PC message.

Workaround:

Go to Control Panel-->Scanners and Cameras

ADF means Automatic Document Feeder, used to copy, scan or fax multiple pages loaded at one time.
