The age of your vehicle guarantee's a vacuum leak. It may sound silly but the truth is rubber grommets and hose's shrink and dry out over time and the harsh environment under the hood makes it worse. Check all vacuum lines and fittings attached to the intake manifold, valve covers(pcv valve), and be sure to check for a vacuum fitting on top of the intake just behind the throttle body. Does it fit tight in the hole? You can seal loose fittings with a high-temp RTV (Red) silicone sealant/adhesive.

Have you hooked a scanner to the computer and checked the oxygen sensor(s)? If they are bad they could lean out the engine.

Also, a restricted exhaust system can lower engine performance. If you dont know old the plugs and wires are, replace them. With plug wires, its the age not the miles. How old is the coil pack? It could be "breaking down" at higher rpm's. Does your engine have a cam sensor? It would be located where a Distributer used to be on older engines.

Remember an engine needs three things to work properly...Air / Fuel / Ignition(Spark)

MAF sensor if bad, the engine may not even start let alone run.
MAP sensor on most Olds engines is located just behind the rear valve cover. It may have a 3 or 4 wire plug connected and a vacuum line. Its about 1 1/2 inches tall X 4 inches long X 3/4 inch thick.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I need to replace my engine in my 95 nissan altima and I want to know what's the latest model engine I can replace it with . Maybe a 2000 nissan altima engine

93-2001 are the same if your talking about the 2.4 liter dual cam motor. Some of the sensers are different as you might need to use the old ones but they'll fit right in. 02 changes to 2.5 and nothing works and the 6 won't fit either. If your manual trans yu need one that's for a manual as the crank is different but the manual engine will go in the automatic, ou'll need to use all the sensers from the old engine or new ones for the old engine as the different model years the computer is set differnt. ( some may work). Check the parts s guy if their the same for both you'll be fine. Don't froget to fix the reason the old motor failed ( bad raditor timing belt coolant senser, exhaust restriction) or your newer motor may fail too.

Sounds like you missed connecting something back up. The Knock senser won't make it not run it'll just not let it run at peak power. The OHMs on the sensers just need to be close and your old senser may be just fine. The senser watches a reluctor wheel go by. Did you put it back on? did you put it right side up? It'll fit backwards but it won't line up with the senser.

Mercedes sl300 fan switch

There are several applications that this water pump is designed for. I know that primarily there are 2 switches used and they install in the t-stat housing portion of the water pump assembly. I believe that there is a single pole senser for the gauge and either a 2 or 3 pole senser for the aux fan and poss.compresser shutoff. I hope this is an o.e.m. water pump because the after market ones don't last as long and have higher failure rate. If it is an after market I would be suprised if the switch fit. If the switch came with new pump install original switch into new unit with new crushwasher. I'm assuming that you are talking about the aux. fan because the fan clutches are all hydraulic with the exeption of the 102 engine wich is a four cyl. Also there are some plugs that need to be transfered and they are all plugging up bores for coolant temp. sensers. If this fan switch won't go into the original pkace try another senser hole and plug up the other one. it doesn't matter wich port the senser goes into as long as the thred is the same. There sometimes a small hose that atatches to the back of the pump if not the pump comes with a plug. Like I said ther is several different applications. I'm an M.B. tech- if you have any more questions just post them and I will look at them
