If your dryer doesn't work at all, it could be because of problems with:


Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? If you plug something else into the outlet, does it work? If not, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker.

Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)

Can you check this following parts:

Make sure the dryer is plugged in securely
Check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker
Test the power outlet for voltage
Inspect the electrical cord for damage
Eliminate use of an extension cord, if any is being used
Check the outlet voltage
Test the door switch
Test the start switch
Test the safety fuse
Test the thermostats
Test the timer motor
Test the motor

check the breaker,outlet and power cord. dryer fuses are not for the light. ohm check the door switch for the light.

check your outlet for 220v but it is probably the thermal fuse that has opened up.

plug something else into the wall outlet to make sure you're getting power there and try changing the bulb.if there is power check the door switch,move the paddle in and out and you should hear a clicking sound,if you don't change out the door switch,also check the back of the dryer at the block where the power cord connects to the dryer and make sure you have power there.also is there a gfi plug anywhere near the dryer that might have to be reset,i've seen this,also i've come across whoever wired the outlet switched the hot wire and the neutral around so when the machine is plugged in the wiring isn't correct

Sounds as if the door switch is the problem. This is normally a safety switch that stops the dryer when the door is opened.
Unplug the dryer.
Remove the door switch and check the switch condition with a continuity meter after removing the wires. Try turning the switch on and off....the meter should read power on and off when you do that.
You may have to remove the front of the dryer to get to the door switch.

It sounds like a bad timer board . If you unplug overnight you allow discharging the capacitor on control board, that is the reason why it works next day. Check if the power outlet is grounded properly, and test a different outlet. If that does not fix the problem, then test and eventually replace timer board, motor control unit or any other control board present (dryness control if present).
