Question about Mitsubishi CS-36609 36" TV

TV Stuck in TV Guide Plus+ Installation Mode

Out of the blue the TV decided it wanted this mode and would not stop.

The message at the bottom of the screen reads:

Installing Guide Plus+ data now
Turn TV off during installation
CANCEL to abort

It stays at one of the kids channel for a while, starts running though the channels at about 3-5 second intervals, then turns itself off. I don't have the original remote control, therefore I have no CANCEL button to hit. I unplugged the TV for a coule hours, but that didn't change the situation.

    I also have this problem, I have tried a few different universal remotes and none worked, all of the remotes had 3 digit codes. I got it to work once using a remote with a four digit code, but then the TV got unplugged and the problem came back.

    I own a Mitsubishi VS-50703.

    It became unplugged and now the TV Guide + message appears.

    The difference btwn my problem and others on this forum is that my TV is not cycling through channels, rather it is pausing like it wants to change channels but does not. I connected the TV directly to the cable in jack on the wall and plugged it into the TV (turned off for several hours) . Still the problem persists.

    I lost the orig. remote.

    lost power source for a moment, guide plus menu has been a part of daily life since. TV shuts down every 5 min., hitting volume control restarts the 5 min. countdown. Direct cable to TV did not work. Disconnect power for 4 hrs no good. Radio shack 8 - 1 remote no go, going to employ a brick to the picture tube soon.

I resolved this problem by programming a Logitech Harmony remote to have the settings of the original remote (that I cannot find). Once the remote was set to this TV the problem was easily solved by pressing the EXIT button on the remote. I would guess this means it would work with the original remote too. It is very strange that the front panel does not fix the problem and that only a remote can resolve. Good luck.

None of the above worked for me even with the original remote. That installation message will keep repeating if the cable line is not directly connected to the tv (the message and tv will flicker with static which means it's flipping through each channel about 120). I disconnected the line from the comcast box and put it in the tv and let it flip through all the channels (it had picture this time and no static once the line was directly in the tv). I then turned the tv off for 2 hours and the installization was done.

I got a philips "universal consolidator" that controls 4 devices. It cost me $10 and the quit buttton on it did the trick.

Buy a good universal remote and it will have the correct button, that's what I did, I got the Radio Shack 8-in-1 remote and programmed it and it got rid of it.

Go into engineering mode by pressing the stop and speed up button at the same time while inserting safety key. Once in mode, press the stop button once more then press the plus incline button. the incline should calibrate itself. If not then you might need a motor control board.. Hi There,

I just experienced the same problem you did concerning the partmgr.sys blue screen error. I am installing Windows XP Pro SP2 on a pretty old Dell Latitude LS (upgrading it from Win 2000). The XP installation disk gives me the option to format in NTFS, FAT, and both formats in a "quick" mode. I usually do not recommend using the quick mode, however, after trying both NTFS and FAT and receiving the blue screen, I decided to try NTFS (quick). That has allowed me to actually get further into the installation, so you may want to try that.

Unplug the TV for 4 hours or more. This is called a 'Hard Reset'. Then plug it back in, turn it on and let the TV do it's thing. It will set itself up. Just follow the TV setup prompts. Guide Plus is a feature on the TV. Much like a TV guide showing all channels, shows, description of shows, times, etc..

Stuck in progressive scan mode


You need to be sure to remove the discs from the disc changer and close the disc changer. Make sure that your TV is on the Blue Screen and it should say " Progressive Scan Mode" Press and hold the stop button on the unit....not the remote for 5 seconds or more and it should reset. However, if your TV is a Progressive Scan compatible TV, you may need to refer to the user guide for the TV as well....Many newer TVs Use a Progressive Scan Setup, but this solution should still work for you. Make sure all discs are removed FIRST!!!
