Problem for Edirol Virtual Sound Canvas (EDIVSCMP12) for Mac, PC
Latency and EDIROL PC-50
I use Musicator for writing music, and have this Edirol pc-50 plugged into my pc by means of an USB-plug. But I am tired of this latency which disturbs me when writing. The latency is about one second.
I am using XP and the pc is rather fresh, strong/rapid and new.

The main cause of latency is your hardware. What kind of soundcard do you have? If you are using the one that came with your computer then that is your problem, no matter how good or new your PC is, manufacturers like to save costs by using cheap motherboard mounted soundcards, I had exactly the same problem as you when I started using a MIDI keyboard with cubase.
I'd suggest buying a soundcard designed for audio applications, I use the M-Audio Fasttrack which you can pick up very cheaply nowadays. I have my latency down to around 1/20 second and as an added bonus I get a 1/4 input and an XLR input as well for recording.
you can improve latency by adjusting the buffer size in your doftware but you are never going to get it low enough to make your keyboard useful. I'm afraid you'll need a new soundcard for that.
Go to the soundonsound forum and post your question up there, there are lots of serious producers and gearheads who can recommend a good soundcard.
