I suspect you must have solved this one by now.
I can only assume you have something jamed inside. (your thoughts too I expect)
I would have thought removing as many panels as you could to gain access to the drawer unit to add paper might reveal where the problem might be!
This model Canon printer does not have a duplex unit and cannot print double sided printing automatically. DOUBLY SIDED PRINTING WITHOUT A DUPLEX UNIT Open your Word document. Open page 1 - then Print the current page. Then put the printed page 1 back in the paper tray upside down.Open page 2 and Print the current page (page 2 will be printedon the other side of the page 1). Repeat this procedure for the other pages.
pull out the paper drawer and look on the ceiling of the compartment. you will see a little orange rubber roller that should be clicked inplace. it feeds the paper up into the roller. also, the drawer itself contains two sensors. if you go to the xerox page you can download the pdf that lists all the parts and the errors and how to disassemble the whole thing. i have the same printer and got a print head error and a paper jam that required complete disassembly. feel free to email me for additional help. firstname.lastname@example.org
