Kitchenaid dishwasher soap dispenser

In order to replace the soap dispenser it looks like I have to take off the front panel. I have removed about 10 screws on the inside of the panel and 4 on the side but I cannot remove the panel. What else do I have to do to remove the panel in order to replace the soap dispenser. And what about the electir harness?

one of the plastic closures has broken off on the left soap dispenser.
I just ordered a replacement from Kitchen Aid...they said there are no instructions for replacement ..Please inform me how to do the replacement.

Yep, I have the same problem. I put the soap in, try to close the little door and by the time I close the main dishwasher door, the soap is already falling out because the dispenser-door clip isn't working. I'm still trying to find the replacement part for this. Hopefully I don't have to spend circa $135.00 as is listed in repairclinic.com!!!

SOURCE: Kitchenaid Superba Dishwasher

gagaweaver, couple of things you want to check here. Check the upper spray arm for any clogged holes or cracks along the edges. Position it in the 12:00 position and run the dishwasher for a little, open the door and verify that it has rotated. Make sure the water entering the dishwasher is min. 120 degrees, use a thermometer. Makes sure that there is no large pans or dishes blocking the upper spray arm from spraying onto the inner door. If all that checks out. You will have to remove the lower spray arm, filter cover and chopper cover to make sure the chopper screen is not coated or plugged up. If it is, it will prevent a good flow of water to the upper spray arm. Catriver..post back.

SOURCE: Dishsoap stays in soap dispenser

Same thing happened to us. We noticed that it happened if the soap was left sitting before starting the washer. Since then, we immediately start the washer after putting soap in it and the problem appears to have gone away.

So much for the delayed start features, but at least the soap doesn't stick anymore.

good luck!

SOURCE: Dishwasher leaves soap in dispenser.

Hi Dirty Dish gang.
After having 2 appliance repairmen here, I now have the latest scoop on our dishwasher problems, $200 later!
Los Angeles IS currently having hard water issues. Also, all the new cleaning gels etc. are actually a cause of our dishwasher problems.
So, here is what we need to do:
1. Use Cascade POWDER detergent only.  Make sure is is just "plain" no "scented" or "complete"  or gel, etc. (I have tried a phosphate free powder and gel and this is a cause of our problem as well!) 2. Use Jet Dry in the dispenser (set it to a 2-3 opening) 3. Make sure water is at least 120 degrees 4. Only run dishwasher on "normal" setting.  All others just run it longer, hence causing more water stains. 5. Do not pre-wash dishes! You can knock of chunks with a "non" soapy brush, but don't rinse (the oils actually help to clean the dishes) 6.  Do not wash sponges in dishwasher.
Acid Wash: The repairman just gave my washer an Acid Wash today. It says it is an acid derived from lemon, I got mine from Carters appliance in Torrance, CA for about $19. I am to run a normal cycle with the above mentioned Cascade after this "acid cycle" is finished.
If you are still having problems:
Monthly maintenance: Glass Magic: Buy a box of Glass Magic (near the Cascade)  Use 1 Tbsb in main detergent compartment of dishwasher along with the Cascade, till washer starts working again. White Vinegar: You can run an empty dishwasher with white vinegar once a month.  Fill a bowl with 2 cups vinegar and place on bottom rack.  Then run as a normal cycle...this allows vinegar to disperse slowly.
So far it seems to be working.  Good luck.

I took the door apart and found the degertent door solinoid looking like it over heated and melted to the cover flap and the insulation. See picture. I can't post pic as the max is 150kb.
I applied power and it only got hot and wouldn't operate.
Next I go to Kitchenaid for a replacement - FREE it should be.

As I look at the pictoral, it seems there are twelve screws that hold the inner door to the outer door. Youmust remove these and then separate the door parts. Then you will see the screws that hold the dispenser in place from inside the door.

How do i remove front door cover?

Good Morning Friend,

I understand you are replacing the soap dispenser in your Frigidaire dishwasher, model# FDB1050REC, and want to know how to access the screws to remove front panel of the door. Typically, this is not a do it yourself repair, as there are no step by step instruction manuals for this repair. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. I hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I need to replace the soap dispenser

When you open the door there are screws around the outer edge of the door (heads facing in when the door is closed). Remove them and the door separates in two halves exposing the soap dispenser.

Soap dispensor on kitchen aid dishwasher is leaking

First try rinsing out the dispenser cup and switching to a gel detergent.
Second, the door is spring loaded, and the spring may need to be replaced.Do this byturning off the electricity, then removing the front panel of the dishwasher-loosen screws holding the cup to the door and replace the springs. If the cup does not have springs, then it probably works on a was motor or bi metal switch that can be changed.
I can also be a defective timer switch

Soap dispencer is not opening.

More than likely the wax motor that opens the dispenser is burnt out. It would need to be replaced by order the dispenser, removing the 2 phillips screws that hold the front panel in place, and you'll see the 6 screws that hold the dispenser.

My FDB1050REC0 soap dispenser doesnt open

More than likely it's the dispenser that's faulty. They use a wax motor to open the dispenser, which is prone to failing. I'd order the dispenser, then you remove 2 phillips screws that hold your front panel on, then you'll see the 6 screws that hold the dispenser in place.

Dishwasher soap door repair

Remove door front panel to gain access to rear of dispenser (inside door)...then you have access to some linkages to which the trigger clips. You will see which to unclip. Spring is just clipped into position and dispenser door snapped back in! Good luck! Oshie
