Re: this unit want come on. a high pitch sound come from...

Your motor that turns the disk probably failed you will need to ck it. if it dont make the humming sound when turned on that is a pretty good indication its not working some times it will say no disk if it dont burn something else out with it. and find out what burned out with the motor

My GPX DV1020 remote will not turn on the dvd player. Can you help?

be sure your remote is ok. check the remote as follow:
-use a pocket radio that is set/tuned on AM-frequentie band.
-hold the remote near the receiver of the radio while pressing every botton one by one
-you should hear a high pitch sound if the remote is ok
-when all botton do the high pitch that means the dvd IR-receiver is bad. usually it can't be, those are tough....

if you dont got the pitch the remote is bad. test especially the power botton of the remote.

If it is the remote please write back. I will show you how to do some simple actions to get the remote back going..

Hi had my sony dvp s725d from new 1999 and loved it, the problem is it switched off during playback, i thought it was a blown fuse but umpteen fuses later i came to the conclusion that it hadn't blown at...

First check the power supply after it has reduced the voltage and DC supply. That circuit is at fault & change it if available.......................sodeep

Player won't turn on, powersupply works, but no power to system.

Start tracing for broken cord, fuses etc. Switching power supplies are hard to determind the fault, it uaually replace the whole PS board or you can replace the components, transistors, capacitors, resistors, etc

Will not power up. fuse is good.where can I buy the power supply assembly?

Usually you cannot buy replacement powersupply boards for dvd players unless you buy a scrapper one off an auction site and use that , but before you go out spending any money, check the capacitors on the board which look like little blue cans, see if they have a buldge in the top and if they have then they will need changing. Check for any burnt components too.

High pitched noise regardless of power on/off

Hello... I would say that your power supply is going bad. But it does sound like the little muffin fan in the unit is.

Cyberhome dvr1200 wont turn on

C14 & C20 are in fact 2200uf @ 10VDC. C15 is 1000uf @ 10VDC. After reading these posts, I took a closer look at the ps board, and sure enough C20 top is slightly ballooned out. We'll be replacing all 3 with 16VDC caps shortly. BTW, the high pitched whine is from the power supply because it's a switching supply and creates some HV.

Thanks for the input!

Won't Turn on anymore.

The high pitched squeal you refer to comes from a faulty component called a capacitor ... these store power in a circuit to compensate for AC or alternating current, thus allowing an appliance to operate continuously.

The component itself is relatively inexpensive, and would take around 20-40 minutes to isolate and replace, hence it would be relatively cheap to fix.

Having a repairman take a look and explaining the noise as above, would help narrow down the complaint.

The display is faint because of the lack of constant power getting to the display.

Unit want come on

I ordered new Capacitors for my DVD Player 2 Panisonic 1500uf 10v 105° caps and 1 Panisonic 1000uf 10v 105° cap and soldered them into the powersupply where the oviously swolen / leaking capasitors were and walla it powers up and no more high pitch noise but I can't get it to eject the cd or anything. It shows on the screen but it just says loading. My guess is it did some dammage to other components inside the machine. I suppose it was worth a shot but now I am going to toss it and get a name brand. ILO isn't in business anymore... Oh and yes I did try the reset button abov the DVI connector...

Nothing happening

Are you sure it was a surge protector and not just a power strip? They look the same. Just a thought =)
