Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Pinkish image ghosting when watching tv

I have had the 50inch Sony Grand Wega for approx. 3 1/2 years now. I am now starting to experience a pinkish ghosting around images and letters, like on a ticker on the bottom of the screen. Is this the bulb going out or do I have a much worse problem?

Same Tv same age. If left on a still screen for very long even just 5 minutes tv will ghost the image on bottom 1/3 of screen. I haven't change the bulb yet. I am guessing it is about time.

It sounds like you have a bad optical assembly. Depending on labor prices in you area you will likely have a repair bill somewhere between $700 and$1000.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

I replaced the main lamp 6 months ago. Now I have blue on the right, yellow in the middle and normal color on the left. I also have a ghost image of tree branches on the whole screen.

GHOSTING

Hey joseph, actually replacing the optical Block is not necessary at all, all you need to do is get into the "Service Mode" of the Tv and change a few setting around, did it a few weeks ago and now my TV looks perfect, no reason to waster $1200 as sony is trying to get over on all us consumers.
