Adapter inactive

It is not the problem with the router. It is the problem with the wireless adapter on your computer. Open Network connections and look for Wireless network connection. If it is not there then open the Device Manager and look for Wireless network adapter under Network adapters. It seems that wireless adapter on your computer is not working or it is not detected by your computer. If you have external wireless adapter then unplug it and replug it.

Will this router work with an N band wireless adapter

Yes it will, however it will only run at Wireless-G speeds as it is only a Wireless G router. You will not speed any speed difference while on the internet but you may see it when you are transferring files from one computer in the house to another over your network.

Should a Linksys Wireless Adapter function with a Netgear Wireless Router? How would you make it work? Thanks. Vernell

yes, Most adapters will work with most routers - and comply with the 801.11 standard - The only issue will be if you have an "N" adapter only The router is compatible with 802.11b and g
Making it work - you should be able to detect the signal from your router and enter the wireless security key (often written on the bottom of the router)

Wpa encryption for wireless g adapter

This is a known issue . A WPA encryption does not work for G adapters to N routers. Try to reduce the encryption to WEP and check . Im sure that will work.

Can't connect to internet with router and wireless usb adapter

Did you check whether the USG adapter can work in "G" mode, read the manual of the usb adapter and check whether it can operate in "G" mode since your router is a wirelss "G" model the devices which detectes signals should also work in :g" mode, And most of the inbuilt adaters are viable with a/b/g/N type routers, so please check the manual and let me know

Connecting to secure network

when enabling wireless security the router and adapter must be both be configured and configured in a fashion that both support. If you need help provide confirmation of your wireless router's manufacturer and model and the same information for any wireless adapters or computers with built-in wireless adapters to be wirelessly connected.

This will allow us to determine the common security options for all wireless devices you have.
