Cannot download pictures from camera to laptop (by 2 users)

Hi! I have a Nikon Coolpix L10/L11 with 6MP.I cannot download pics from camera to laptop even after waiting 5 mins.My laptop supports only Windows Vista.Moreover i have installed the software that comes along with the camera.But still when i connect my camera to laptop,after some five minutes the camera displays as "Transfer Error".
