Keeps shutting down and takes several trys to start again only to shut down later

If the computer is overheating it will shut down to save the hardware from heat damage, the temp is pre set. It may get hot, due to air flow in a minute or and hour. What does the "screen comes up says problem " say? Check the fan and vents for dust and clean, improve air flow around bottom vents and side vents. Perhaps a Laptop Cooler? When the computer shuts down unepectedly, the computer see it as a crash and will load in that option screen. Run a 'Check Disk" on the OS drive buy opening computer in start menu, right click the drive with the OS (C), open properties, Tools, Check now, choose all options, follow instructions, reboot.

My acer aspire shuts down before it loads the windows OS... pls help

Try rebooting, press F8 key repetedly until the boot menu is shown. Try booting into safe mode.

If you can get into safe mode, hit start -> run and type "msconfig"

Choose the option to NOT load the startup items upon boot and restart. This will let you boot if there was a program that was starting automatically and intefering with boot.

OS load failure.

The bluescreen saying about the ACPI, I had the same problem at work with a older computer. Next time you get the bluescreen read everything it says.

It tells you to press a button, I'm not sure thats why I'm telling you to read the bluescreen (windows 2000 or xp) it was f5 or f8.

You press f5 or f8 I think it was f5 since f6 is to load custom drivers.

So you press f5 when it asks you to press f6 This disables the ACPI subsystem in the setup and you should be able to install windows 2000 without any more problems. If its not f5 read the bluescreen thats where I got it!

Good luck, keep me posted and tell me if theres anything else.
