DIMM Error HP P3005n

Printer will give a DIMM error. I have tried replacing (upgrading) memory and it did nothing. The printer will usually not cycle when started. It gets hung up on the memory when it's doing it's initial cycle. Any ideas

The only error it gives me is "MEM TEST FAILURE REPLACE DIMM 1", and not every time. If I keep restarting it it will come up maybe 1 out of 10 times.

  • KCbam Dec 03, 2007

Sometimes it will say DIMM 0 instead of DIMM 1

  • KCbam Dec 03, 2007

It gave the same error before I replaced the DIMM

MEM TEST FAILURE REPLACE DIMM 1

  • hobinerucad Apr 15, 2009

    64MB onboard
    16MB DIMM expansion

-Printer keeps crashing and needs to be restarted.
-Memory errors appear to be different every time the printer is restarted.
-The printer no longer gets to a ready state.
-Problem was progressively worse over a few months: went from 1st error to completely borked in just under 3 months.

When the error message comes up are there any jobs being sent to the printer? I wondering since you replaced / upgraded the dimm if your not having a formatter board issue?

I am getting the same error message but I haven't replaced the memory as of yet. Is this the normal fix for this problem? I didn't want to replace the memory and find out later this wasn't the proper fix for this error message
Thank You
Jack

1. Turn the device on. Check that the Ready light is illuminated after the device has gone through the
startup sequence. If an error message appears, a DIMM might have been incorrectly installed.
See Control-panel messages.

Replace memory Dimm o error

Hello, This error is indicating a problem either with the main Formatter board or the installed additional RAM DIMM. It is best to take out the additional RAM and see if the error goes awayprefab.gifPhoto A
Slide the DIMM Cover towards the rear - make sure the power is off first
Open the metal cage and you will see the memory DIMM.

prefab_0.gifPhoto B
After the DIMM has been removed (photo B), turn the printer back on. If the printer comes ready the Memory DIMM is bad. The printer should print without it. If the Error remains then the formatter board is bad and will need to be replaced.

1. Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job from the printer memory. 2. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on. 3. Try printing a job from a different software application. If the job prints, go back to the first application and try printing a different file. (If the message only appears with a certain software application or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.) 4. If the message persists with different software applications and print jobs, disconnect all cables to the printer that connect it to the network or printer. 5. Turn the printer off. 6. Remove all memory DIMMs or third-party DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in the lowest DIMM slot.) 7. Remove all EIO devices from the printer. 8. Turn the printer on. 9. If the error no longer exists, install each DIMM and EIO device one at a time, making sure to turn the printer off and back on as you install each device. 10. Replace a DIMM or EIO device if you determine that it causes the error. 11. Remember to reconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or computer. 12. Problem prompt on DIMM error

Hi,
If the printer freezes or crashes at memory count or if the printer shows error Mem test failure replace DIMM or if the printer display is completely blank in that case obviuosly you can try reseating Mmeory Module.
However that doesn't fix the problem formatter board is faulty.
Need to get Formatter replaced.

Thanks and Regards

I have a HP CLJ 4700dn printer which keeps on giving 49.2FCC

That error is a firmware error, you might try again to download and install the update, or try a new memory stick if you have additional memory installed.

49.00F service error

From the service manual:

A critical firmware error has occurred that caused the processor on the formatter to abort the operation.
This type of error can be caused by invalid print commands, corrupt data, or invalid operations.
In some instances, electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the printer. Other causes include poor quality parallel cables, poor connections, or specific software programs.
Sometimes, the formatter itself is at fault, which is usually indicated by a 79 Service Error.

Recommended action:

1 Press CANCEL JOB to clear the print job from the printer memory.
2 Turn the printer off and then on.
3 Go to www.hp.com/go/lj4300_software, Select Download Drivers and Software. Check for the latest firmware image version at the bottom of the page. If this firmware image is newer than the one installed on the printer and the printer can receive a firmware update, download the newer firmware
upgrade. Not all HP LaserJet 4200/4300 printers can receive firmware upgrades.
4 Try printing a job from a different software program. If the job prints, go back to the first program and try printing a different file. If the message appears only with a certain software program or print job, contact the software vendor for assistance.
5 If the message persists when using different software programs and attempting specific print jobs,
disconnect all cables that connect the printer to the network or a computer.
6 Turn the printer off.
7 Remove all memory DIMMs or thirdparty DIMMs from the printer. (Do not remove the firmware DIMM in slot J1.)
8 Remove all of the EIO devices from the printer.

After performing the actions above, procede with the following:
1 Turn the printer on.
2 If the error message disappears, reinstall each DIMM and EIO device individually, making sure to turn the printer power off and then on again as you install each device.
3 Replace the DIMM or EIO device that caused the error message.
4 Remember to reconnect all of the cables that connect the printer to the network or computer.
5 If this error message persists, replace the firmware DIMM.
6 Replace the formatter assembly.
