I can't get the timer switch off

I have a Kenmore Washing Machine (mod. # 110.20642990) and I can't get the switch off to replace timer unit. I have tried to turn it counter clockwise when it is pulled out and pushed in, but nothing works.

Kenmore washer does not fill first ,goes right into washing.Replaced timer ,same problem.

Hello Sue,
The reason your washer starts agitating instead of filling first is shortted water level sensor switch that should be replaced.
The part number for that switch is W10177795

Whirlpool washer will occasionally be filling with water and pumping water out, problem will last until i turn timer knob to next action, after turning timer to "sweet spot" washing machine will...

These timers are normally sealed units (crimped and pressed sheet metal) and replaced as a unit.
If you could open one up, you'd find
that the contacts causing the intermittent problem are burnt from arcing. All washing machine timers
will eventually get this problem with enough use. As an electrician, you'll recognize that all switches
(washing machine timers are a series of switches oriented around a slow (timer) motor) are rated
for a given number of make/break cycles. Washing machine timer contacts are no different.
If you could actually "shine up" the offending pair of burnt contacts, another pair would soon
show the same symptoms, since all the contacts in your timer have endured the same number of
make/break cycles.

I have a kenmore model M22922 washing machine that has stopped working when it gets to the spin cysle. I replaced the timer switch, but that did not help

You replaced the wrong part.
The lid switch must be replaced.
If we had a complete model number from the machine we could be more specific.

Washing machine is Kenmore mod. 110 22422100. After setting load size and time setting I pull the dial and sometimes(most of the time) water won't fill and the agitator will agitate. What is the problem...

You have a broken point inside the timer. I hate to say that there is no cheap solution. You will have to replace the timer. There is no rebuild kit or anything like that to repair the timer. I know of two suppliers where you can buy a replacement. I use these sometimes when I regular supplier hasn't got a part in stock. I checked the price at both for you and found the best price at . their cost if $123.08 plus shipping. They ship same day if before 4:ooPM. Their Part Number: AP3020181 . When you go to their site enter either your model number or this part number. If you enter you model #, scroll down until you find the timer, Th part # will take you straight to it. I sure hope this helps.

Washer agitates, drains OK, but spin doesn't start

Timer is defective. Your unit has a netural drain. When finished agitating, the shuts down and then starts up reversing to drain and spin. On the initial reverse start, the water drains without the transmission spinning. After a timed period 3-4 minutes, the timer is supposed to pause, stopping the motor for a few seconds. When the motor stops again, the transmission shift to the spin cycle and when the timer resumes power tothe motor it should spin. You are doing the same thing when you lift the lid...stopping the timer and then the tranny shifts and when you set the lid down, the washer spins. Replace the timer.......

Washing problem

First, check for a bad lid switch. If that checks out good, check voltage at the motor. If you have voltage, replace the motor. If you don't, check your timer to see if voltage is leaving the timer.

the noise could be coming from the gears inside the timer slipping.
