I bought this used it worked fine at first but the problem i am having is the game disk is stuck in the console when i try to push play it acts as if it is going to play and blinks red i can hear the fans but it will not eject my disk its stuck in.by it being used i dont know if sony will fix ithave no history of the console
I was having the same problem... I don't know if this will help you or not, but I attempted to put in a second disc (obviously it wouldn't accept it and I did NOT let the 2nd disc fall all the way in)...
After removing the 2nd disc and then powering it on and then off again, I heard something "catch" and then when I pressed the eject button, it ejected the 1st disc...

This is quite a common problem with the PS3 and is caused by a problem with the laser on the Bluray drive which is malfunctioning and can no longer 'see' or read the game disk properly.
The PS3 uses a dual laser system. This consists of either a dual refractor type lens or two entirely seperate lenses depending on which pickup is fitted to your particular system. One laser is for reading ordinary DVD disks and PS2 disks and the other for Bluray and PS3 games.
The symptoms you describe are quite typical of a failure of one or both of these lasers.
For more information on how to resolve the problem please have a look at this FixYa Tip on the subject.
Hi,, here's the solution. Remember that you must NEVER force the disk out by using hard objects/screw driver/plier or anything to pull the drive out. This will wreck the PS3 and its drive. • Turn off your PS3 from back (the main off button)
• Put your finger on the eject button and once you do, push the switch at the back to switch the PS3 on, and then push the eject button. Hold it like this for fifteen to thirty seconds, or until the drive is forced open.
• The disc should come out now. Thanks and take care
push and hold the power button on the ps3 u should hear 1 beep then 2 beeps and a menu shuld come up on the screen if not repeat the process pick reset ps3 if that dosent work take it to best buy tell them u bought it from them and tell them there is a disc stuck in it the oooo yea take it to geek squad and the should help u and then ur best bet is to call sony and tell them what happened and if the cant tell u what to do just send it to them and tell them a disk is stuck in it so they wont take it
what you have to do is turn it on and go on to settings. then format the system and wait for it to reset then start it up again and try it. (back up your info first!)
if that doesnt work ring sony and state the problem they should send you a new or refurbished ps3. but you'll need it in warrenty.
It seems that your system is having trouble writing data to the HDD. Have you tried switching hard drives with your brother? It can be a corrupt sector or the entire disk. Try to format the disk and try again or switch your hard drive with your brother's or if you have the cash, buy a new hard drive for your ps3. Regards. Hope it helps.
PS: If you try using your brother's hard drive in your PS3 you will have to format it so I suggest you do a backup.
