If you can hear the pump running during a drain cycle then there may be something blocking the drain hose. A cherry pit for example. Look underneath the DW where the hose connects to the outlet of the pump. If you do not hear the pump running then it is the problem.

SOURCE: dishwasher will not drain water out

if plumbed in under the sink, check the spigot the drain hose goes to is not blocked - a common problem. if on drain you should be able to hear the drain pump working. if you hear a faint humming noise instead, then there is probably a foreign object stuck in pump. also check for blockage in the drain hose

SOURCE: GE Dishwasher is not draining water

GE Prifile dishwashers have a valve called a "Piston" and an "O" -Ring under the screen that become degraded over time. The part is around $10 and it takes about an hour to do the repair. You can do this yourself if you are handy and have some simple tools. You can go to the GE website and get a free owners manual.

SOURCE: Dishwasher will not drain (water just trickes out) fill is good

Drain valve not opening or pump impeller loose on shaft - is it washing ok?

My guess would be drain valve not opening. It is a 110v solenoid and they get stuck or burn up. New solenoid costs ~$20.00

Water sits in bottom

If water does not drain at all then the drain pump could be blocked.
If only a little water is remaining but cycle is complete, then this is normal.
However, do check the kitchen drain is clear and you do not have a garbage disposer (insinkerator) in sink which is full. Normally empty it before you start the dishwasher.
Do you get any alarms (lights flashing etc)

Dishwasher turned on accidently and full of water

Close the dishwasher door and run the drain cycle of the dishwasher only....that should empty the appliance. Note that a little bit of water remaining is normal, but if there is a substantial amount of water left, you will need to check the pump inlet screen and the drain hose or sink for any additional clogging.

Dish water tray full of dirty water, does not

It sounds like a plugged discharge line, close to the disposer. With the power off to the disposer and the dishwasher, remove the dishwasher drain line ate the disposer drain. Careful, there will be water there, most likely, so have a pan or buchet to catch the water. Pass a wire back up into the drain line from the dishwasher as far as you can towards the high point of the drain line. Remove the wire and pass it into the disposer (sink) drain, making sure that the piping is unplugged. Reassemble and try.
