The printer jammed and now will not restart

The screen says" The back cover is open, close cover" machine cuts off
Back cover is closed. I have checked there is no jam and no covers open.
what do I do?

  • Jimber Jan 10, 2008

I have the exact same problem with the same machine. I'm 100% sure that there is no paper in the back or anywhere else. I keep getting a "Back door open" message and then the machine will intermittently shut off. The printer is completely useless since it won't accept any input from my computer.

SHARP MX-4071 Close Printer Cover - have opened and closed all covers but still cannot function. Any ideas?

If you have opened and closed all covers on your Sharp MX-4071 printer but are still receiving a "Close Printer Cover" error message, there may be a few possible reasons why this is happening. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can take:
  1. Check for any paper jams: Open all covers and inspect for any paper jams or debris that may be obstructing the printer's internal components. Clear any jams or debris that you find and ensure that there are no obstructions left inside the printer.
  2. Check the covers and sensors: Make sure that all covers are properly aligned and closed securely. Check the covers for any damage or signs of wear and tear that may be preventing them from closing correctly. Also, inspect the sensors that detect the covers to ensure that they are not damaged or obstructed.
  3. Reset the printer: Power off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 30 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again. This will reset the printer and may resolve the issue.
  4. Update the printer firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for your Sharp MX-4071 printer and install them. Firmware updates can sometimes fix bugs and errors that may be causing the "Close Printer Cover" message to appear.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, you may need to contact Sharp support or a qualified technician for further assistance. They can diagnose the problem and determine if there are any hardware issues that need to be addressed.

T652n 202.03 paperjam

1Open the upper-front cover and remove the toner cartridge.2
Look into the printer. Remove any jammed sheets of paper that you find there.

  • If the print job only consisted of this one page, reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover. Press the pattlnk_10162008_2247-select_button.jpg button to clear the error, and then try printing again.

  • If the print job consisted of more than one page, confirm the entire paper path is clear before printing again. Do the following:

    1. Remove the top paper tray ('Tray 1').
    2. Remove any jammed or partially-fed sheets of paper you find here, then reinstall the tray.
    3. Go around to the back of the machine and open the upper-rear cover. Remove any jammed sheets of paper you find, then close the cover.
    4. Once you have confirmed that the entire paper path is clear, reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover.
    5. Press the pattlnk_10162008_2247-select_button.jpg button to clear the error, and then try printing again.

  • If you cannot locate any jammed paper under the toner cartridge, then check the rest of the printer for any jammed paper. Do the following:

    • Remove the top paper tray ('Tray 1') and look for any jammed or partially-fed sheets of paper.
    • If you do not find any jammed pages there, reinstall the tray and go around to the back of the machine. Open the upper-rear cover and look there.
    • If the entire paper path appears to be clear, close the rear cover and power off the printer. Reinstall the toner cartridge and close the front cover. Power the printer back on. If a 200 error continues on power up, a sensor in the printer may be malfunctioning. This will require a service call to correct the issue. Please contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional information (see Contacting Lexmark Technical Supportbelow for details).

Printer quit printing. Screen says fuser cover is open. Where is it located so I can close it?

Your problem: paper is jammed in the back of the printer around/in the fuser.

The Users Manual for your printer is located at:
http://www.brother-usa.com/ModelDocuments/Consumer/Users Manual/UM_DCP_7030_7040_EN_1510.PDF

You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader (free from www.adobe.com) to view it.
LOCATION:The fuser cover is located in the back - its covered by the panel in the back called
the "back cover" aka "back output tray cover".
2-step fix:
(A) open the back cover - on the back of the printer.
HOW: it flips down
(B) open the fuser cover and remove paper jam
How: Pull the 2 tabs (one left and one right) toward you to open the fuser cover.
(it also flips down to open).
Most of this fix comes from downloading the Users Manual and blowing up page 60 (of 108 pages).

Message on brother MFC7420 "back door open" when it's not

Actually, you need to double check the back cover and front cover, open them all to check all paper jam.
Besure to check the back cover, normally all paper jam is from the back.
be sure to close the front cover at the last cover to close.
