Hi,
Here are the basic steps that can resolve your issue.
- Paper jam in the Paper feeder or in the output slot
pull out the paper slowly, if the paper tears open the printer cover(scanning unit) and remove the paper (careful not to touch any printer components) after removing the paper restart the printer, then redo the printing process.
-Paper jam inside the machine
Open the rear cover, if you seen the paper remove it, then close the back cover then restart the printer and redo the printing process, if your unable to get the paper from the rear cover, open the casette infront of the printer and slowly pull out the paper, return the casette and restart the machine..
If your still unable to get the paper,
remove the casette, stand the machine with the left side on the buttom (make sure its not the right side) pull out the paper while pulling the green cover toward you, return the casette, restart the machine and redo the printing.
If your having difficulties or still unable to remove the paper contact the canon support center in your area.
Here is a

I hope this will help you a lot.
Thank you for choosing fixya.
I have the exact same problem with the same machine. I'm 100% sure that there is no paper in the back or anywhere else. I keep getting a "Back door open" message and then the machine will intermittently shut off. The printer is completely useless since it won't accept any input from my computer.
