Are you sure the new location is a working port on the system? IPU suggests a VoIP phone, not a DKT2010. Are you sure you have the right phone? You cannot swap an IP phone with a DKT phone.

Sc 234 on ricoh mpc 2000

SC234 on a Ricoh MP C2000

Ther service manual states that SC234 indicates FGATE ON error: M
The PFGATE ON signal does not assert within 5 seconds after processing the image in normal job or MUSIC for start position M.

What that means.. is:
The FGATE signal did not go off within the prescribed time. (The BICU generates the FGATE signal and sends it to the LD unit when the registration sensor switches on.)
My first though would be trouble with the BICU board.. buy it may be several reasons.
It indicates there is one of these errors:
- Defective ASIC (Lupus)
You can perform tests in servicemode to confirm.
- Poor connection between controller and BICU.
Check connections, perform tests.
- Defective BICU.
..yeah.. they fail sometimes..

You should start and try to perform a scanner IPU board test in service mode.
If you follow a complete procedure, you can find out whats wrong.

Scanner Test Mode
VPU Test Mode
Output the VPU test pattern with SP4-907-001 to make sure the scanner VPU control
operates correctly. The VPU test pattern prints out after you have set the SP mode settings
and pressed the start key.

- The CCD on the SBU board may be defective if the copy is abnormal and the VPU test
pattern is normal.

- The following can be the cause if the copy is normal and the VPU test pattern is

- The harness may not be correctly connected between the SBU and the BICU

- The BICU (IPU) or SBU board may be defective.

BICU (IPU) Test Mode
You can check the BICU (IPU) board with the SP mode menu, SP4-904-1 or -2.
Here the machine performs a write and read check of the ASICs on the BICU board and displays
the result.
0: OK, 1: Error
(Pay attention on Bit 2: Lupus register..)

If no error is detected, the test ends. Then the completion code shows in the operation panel
display. If an error is detected, the test is interrupted. Then an error code shows.
The table
below lists the completion and error codes.

SP4-904-1 Register Access
There are 16 bits switches in this SP. Each bit indicates each CPU as followings. The error
result is displayed on the operation panel in decimal number.
0: Normal, 1: Error
Bit 0: TAURUS register
Bit 1: ORION register
Bit 2: LUPUS register
Bit 3 to 11: Not used
Bit 12: Ri20 register
Bit 13 to 15: Not used

SP4-904-2 Image Path
There are 16 bits switches in this SP. Each bit indicates each CPU path as followings. The
error result is displayed on the operation panel in decimal number.
0: Normal, 1: Error
Bit 0: Image path from SBU to TAURUS
Bit 1: Image path from TAURUS to ORION
Bit 2: Image path from ORION to TAURUS
Bit 3: Image path from TAURUS to LUPUS
Bit 4 to 11: Not used
Bit 12: Image path from LUPUS to Ri20
Bit 13: Image path from Ri20 to GAVD
Bit 14 and 15: Not used

Errors may be caused by the following problems:

1. Short circuit on the signal lines
- When the BICU board is installed, a pin or two on the ASIC is damaged.
- Some conductive matter or object is trapped among the pins. Metal "dust" from screws and what not.
- Condensation

2. Destruction of circuit elements
- Over current or a defective element breaks the circuit.

3. Abnormal power supply
•The required voltage is not supplied to the devices.

4. Overheat/overcooling
- The environment is inappropriate for the board (the scanner unit).
Not common if the machine is in a normal location.

5. Static electricity
- Static electricity of a high voltage occurs during the test.
Not common if the machine is connected to a grounded outlet (and nobody has touched the boards inside the machine).

6. Others
- The scanner and BICU are incorrectly connected.
When you have completed a check, turn the main switch off and on before you do another
check. When you have completed all necessary checks, turn the main switch off and on.

Hope this helps.

My ricoh mp 6000 is showing sc144 error what should i do

The error code indicates there is an SBU transmission error.

In other words, the machine is indicating that there is an error in the electronics of the machine, or a loose electrical/signal connection. It is an error that's a bit fuzzy.

The machine will issue the SC144, SBU transmission error because:
After the SBU switches on, the BCU detects one of the following conditions on the SBU:
- 1 second after power on, the SYDI signal does nok go high, even after 1 retry.
- 1 second after power on, the SYDI signal goes high, but the SBU ID could not be read after 3 attempts.

So what this actually means is that you have a number of potential reasons for the error code.
- The SBU is defective. The SBU is the Sensor Board Unit in the machine, that receives analog signals from the CCD (the image sensor) and converts these into digital signals used for image processing. Digital signals is important due to all the manipulations the machines does (and can do). The SBU is basically a fairly advanced analog to digital converter.

- The VIB can be defective. That is a video inteface board, located under the exposure glass, which interfaces the BCU and the IPU with the operation panel and SBU.

- If you are lucky it can also be a harness that is not connected properly.
Check the 40 pin shielded cable between the SBU and the VIB, og the shielded cable between the VIB and the BCU. The BCU is the Base Engine Control Unit), which is the main control board that controls engine sequence, timing for peripherals, image processing, and the video data path.

- The IPU (image prosessing unit) may be defective. This board processes images scanned by the CIS (contect image scanner, used inside the document feeder), and the SBU. The IPU is located on the back side of the swing out circuit board unit.

In the field a technician will check the connections, they may check for power at certain pins/locations on different board - or they have to start to change boards, and just see what's happening.

As with many error codes that may have many sources, a problem totally unrelated to the problem may be the actual cause of the error code.
I have experienced a defective ball bearing being the cause of an "advanced" error related to the power supply board for example.

Photo copier ricoh sc144

SBU Communication Error
  • Connection to SBU cannot be confirmed. (Connection detection error)
  • Cannot communicate with the SBU, or the communication result is abnormal.
  • SBU defective
  • The other side of the communication (BCU, IPU etc.) defective
  • Power/signal harness defective
  1. Turn the power off/on.
  2. Reconnect the power/signal harness.
  3. Replace the following parts:
    • Replace the SBU board.
    • Replace the IPU board.
    • Replace the BCU board.
    • Replace the power/signal harness.

SC685 on Ricon AP3800C

Nothing official listed for this error code. The SC6xx are electronics related errors.

If there is a HDD, try disconnecting it.

Otherwise, you may have a bad connection to the main electronics board (BCU) or a bad BCU.

Printer C760

This error normally requires a service call. However, certain rare occurrences, such as a stray static discharge in the vicinity of the printer or a power fluctuation, can cause a false 103 ITU error message to appear. If possible, connect the printer's power cord directly into a grounded wall outlet. In rare instances, a surge protector or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) can generate false error messages.
