Probably time for a new belt. Replacement can be obtained at just about any appliance store. You may have to drain the basket manually and tilt washer forward to change the belt.
hi! we have read your problem at Fixya! since you have specified that it smells like burning rubber, the belt connecting the motor and the tub accelerator might have been wearing out.this is a problem which occurs when you overload the motor frequently.if you get the smell continuosly, open the cabinet and get the replaced.hope your problem is tackled.have a nice day
Sounds like a failure in the gear case but the burning smell makes me wonder if you have a problem with the motor. You will need a appliance tech to verify
