The timer to my pool quit working. It had been in use for about 14 years, since before I bought the house. The timer is located in a storage room between actual pool pump and electrical box. I replaced it with an Intermatic T101. I hooked it up as follows: white to A, red to 1, and black to 2. Set clock on timer and manually turned on, pool pump came on as desired. Ran all day and shut off at time I had set for it to go off. Unfortunately, when the timer shut the pump off, the power to the timer clock was shut off as well. Next morning I see pump not on, and when I checked the timer, the clock was still on time when it shut off. I tried all different color combinations and they either tripped the breaker or nothing happened, so I feel confident this is the right colored wire setup. What I need is for someone to tell me how I can keep power to the clock on the timer. I would imagine I'll be jumping from one terminal to another but need some assistance. Thanks in advance for anyone that responds.
You have the hot and load reversed. the power source should connect to terminal 1. the wire going on to the pool pump should be hooked to terminal 2.
the clock motor is powered off terminal 1 and A is the neutral.
what u have done is hooked the power source to #2 and the load to #1, simply switch them and everything should be fine, here is a link to the wiring diagram for the timer.

One additional thing...one ground wire was attached to ground screw on T101.
Thank you hippy dd...I used your instructions and it worked like a charm! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my problem. Take care.
My timer comes on and goes off at the times it is set. It turns on 12 lights that are each Xenon 10w bulbs. They are used for landscape lighting but are on the house and not in or on the ground. My problem is that some of the lights will not stay on for more than an hour once the timer turns on. I have replaced the bulbs but that does not seem to help. The strange thing is that all the lights come on when I manually turn the timer on. I am wondering if the bulb watts in the lights are too high which causes some of them to shut down randomly or maybe using xenon bulbs over halogen cause them to overheat and shut down. Thanks for any thoughts.
