Could be lots of things, could be the tray not fully loading, or power supply problem...

My pioneer dvd player model DV-383-S has no power but the fuse is still right and no displaying on the front lcd also

If you have power at the outlet and the fuse is not blown, then most likely you have a blown component in the power supply for the unit. Without a schematic, it would be hard to isolate it to a single component. Take a good look for any damaged components or solder points, and then decide if you want to attempt to repair what you find.

The other choice is to take it to an electronics repair facility.

The DVD Recorder just doesn't power up..

No power, display or functions at all? It is likely that one or more components in the power supply are short-circuit, leaky and/or open-circuit. The trouble with switchmode power supplies is usually caused by (but not limited to) electrolytic capacitors - these fail in all sorts of ways including leaking or drying out due to their proximity to parts with heatsinks, such as IC regulators. The cost of repair depends on which service centre you take the recorder to, who you deal with, and the combined replacement parts/labour involved.

If you are prepared to spend a small fortune in getting this unit fixed, go ahead, get a quote for the likely repair cost FIRST; then you can make a decision afterwards based on the information from the repair shop as to whether this is economical to repair or not. You may or may not be charged a fee for the quote on repairs.

It is up to you. If you feel it might not be economical or cost-effective to fix this one, get the second opinion from the service centre first, then maybe later on consider a new machine if nothing else.

These days, products become cheaper to buy, but more expensive to repair.

When i play music cd all speakers work but when put a dvd on only the 2 front ones and centre speaker goes? Tried all settings. Y are my 2 surround sound speakers not working? I have a pioneer vsx-816...

What is happening is the the pioneer is set up so that you can choose how you listen to your DVDs. So first you must see how your DVD is connected via the audio. I am fairly sure that the Default on the Pioneer is to play it through the standard stereo if all you have plugged in is the left and right audio plugs. If you buy an optical cable or a plug in the Digital Coax out put to the pioneer receiver, then the pioneer will decode the sound and out put true surround sound. Some DVD players don't have a digital out put, but these are the cheapest ones out there. If yours doesn't have a digital out put, then you need to get one that does. They can be purchased for as little as 39.00.

Okay lets assume you bought a DVD player with Digital out put for audio and you have it connected to the receiver. Now, you have to change the mode on your pioneer to let it know that your audio is coming in DIgital when you select the DVD. (Though this may already be the case and you won't have to do anything once you connect it.)

Unit is always shutting down / turning off

Try first unplugging power cable for five minutes and using a different power outlet, if you still get the problem, the unit has a faulty power supply on the board inside.

Loses power after timer recording

Hi Saturn et al,
I had similar issues with my Pioneer DVR-520H. It completely went off for quite a while when it should be going to standby after a timer session. At the start it would come good after a few days. Eventually it went off altogether and nothing would bring it back.
With my father-in-law being an electronics person we investigated with the help of the service manual which I found on the net. The finger was duly pointed at the power IC (MR2920) on the power supply board (Pioneer will sell only the complete board). I ordered the IC from the UK ( GBP8.99 which was the only place I could find it online and soldered it in myself (easy, if you can solder).
All fixed and working again.
Hope this helps.
