No remote with tv. where is the remote sensor on...

i bought the tv on ebay and it works really great, only the remote did not come with the purchase. where is the sensor on the front of the tv? the serial number is v16450608 made in 2004. i cannot believe a tv made in that year does not have a remote. can you help me?
