i been trying to burn dvd on my burner but it wnt do it only cd's.

everytime i start my computer it recognize the drive, but after awhile it disappear from the my computer menu. it looks like it doesn't exist at all. even everst couldn't locate it. than, when i reboot - it shows again. what seems to be the problem?

First thing you need to do is check all the connections by un-plug then plug straight back in See if that helps If not the symptoms are very similar to a dying drive
