Dimplex ds5598 mid size fire not working

I bought this fireplace several years back and before many moves so I don't have the booklet. When I plug it in, the heat comes on, the light inside where the logs are comes on, but the flame doesn't show. It used to, but then it would stop, and sometimes come back on, but now nothing. Help, I found the perfect place for it, but it's a no ambience piece!

I have the exact same model. Theheater works, but no flames! I tried unscrewing the bottom 6 screws -- they release the heater unit itself, but it does not appear to move enough to get to the lightbulbs. There is only one screw on the bottom of the back panel, and I can't see a wya to remove that panel without risk of damage, and I'm pretty certain that is the way to get to the lightbulbs. I can't find my owner/operator manuals either.
I vacuumed the heater while I was in there and it still works fine.

    Just miss my flames:-(

Have same problem....heat but no more flames and couldn't find the spot to replace bulb for the life of me! Will try removing legs to access through the back and hope it works out for me. I love the look of flames so it reminds my grandson not to get too close! Thanks!

To replace the light bulbs, simply (1) open the 'fake" front fireplace door (2) look at the 'log' and in the front center, you'll see a Phillips head screw (3) unscrew the phillips head screw that holds in the 'logs' (4) then you can carefully lift the logs and (voila!) you'll see that two light bulbs are below it. At that point it is a cinch to unscrew and replace them! Hope that helps...

As far as getting to the bulbs, you have to unscrew the legs and then you can slide the back panel off to access the bulbs. The spinning device that creates the flames has burned out on our unit, so thanks for the link to the technical number where to call to get it ordered...hopefully.

Heater works but there are no longer any "flames."

The flames for most electric fireplaces are a reflection of light cast onto a rotating drum of reflective strands of tinsel. The lack of flames is likely due to a burnt out bulb. In most cases, you must remove the fireplace cover to get to the bulb.

Change bulb on dimplex fire not sure of make and model

If it's a fireplace that sets inside a free standing cabinet mantle, you access the bulbs by removing the glass on the front (actually, it''s plexiglass). Then remove the logs and the glowing ember bed (It lifts out). Now you can see and have access to the bulbs to change them.

It it's wood stove look-a-like unit, you can access the bulbs by removing the rectangular panel on the back, near the bottom of the of the unit. Removal of that panel gives you access to the bulbs.

Hope this helps to answer your question.

My Dimplex DS5598 heater lights up and the heater works fine but the flames no longer flicker to look like real flames. Does it have a fan or something? I have the Practical User's Guide but it doesn't...

It sounds like a problem with the flame motor.
I've attached a link to the manufacturer's website. They may be able to assist you with additional information upon request.

ELECTRIC FIREPLACE ONLY 1+ YEARS OLD HEAT STOPPED WORKING ONLY?

The heater will not work if either the thermostat or blower are not working. (or the heater element is bad). Most of the time with these electric heaters, it's the thermostat.
