I bought a boat with a clarion cd/stereo head unit. I noticed a problem while trying to play the radio that the speakers continually cut out. I get music for 2-3 seconds, then a popping sound, followed by no sound for 1-2 seconds, and then it repeats. I installed 4 new speakers because the old ones were junk anyway. The stereo sounds great with a CD, but it does what I described while trying to play the radio. When I scan for channels also, it does not pick up any stations. All the speaker wiring is good, obviously, since it sounds fine with a CD. I have unplugged the antenna and plugged it back in (did not help or hurt). Any ideas?
try taking antenna lead out of set and put a length of wire into the center hole were the antenna fits then scan, you should pick up at least one station,if you do fit a new antenna,if not try switching off any traffic anouncement services on the set ie press and hold button marked either ta/rds/tta/ast

My boat has fairly good quality of sound when listening to a radio station, but when i put a cd in, i only hear the sound coming out of the speakers on the right side of the boat. Then if I plug an ipod into the aux outlet I can hear out of both sides of speakers, but it is very scratchy. How can I fix this?
