I had a similar problem. Hold the ON button in for a few seconds when you turn on your computer.

    Remove the RAM

    CLEAN THE RAM CONTACTS

by softly rubb with a rubber, only on RAM contact

some times the RAM contact may not in contact due to oxide coating,

Hi,

This is a typical symptom of a failing power supply. Replace your power supply and see if the problem still persists.

I rebooted and Asus EeePc from BestBuy after downloaded updates, but I had a memory stick in a USB port. The screen had an unusual message - sorry, I forget - but it might have contained the word...

Hi eng_lish1,

Kindly proceed with the steps below:

  • Turn off the machine. Once off remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Then, without any power source press and hold the power button for 15 seconds. Release the button and put back the battery in and plug in the charger. Turn on the machine. Check if you'll be able to turn it on.
Please let me know your observation.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Please my not less than one year old hp dv7 3165dx Pavilion is always shutting down minutes after startup...it never feels hott or wsrm to touch before this and the fan is working alright. No clogged up...

It sounds like your "automatic shutdown on error" setting is turned on. Here are the instructions to turn it off:

Restart the computer and press the f8 key to open the Advanced Boot Options menu.
Select the "Disable automatic restart on system" failure option.
Restart the computer to accept this change.

If there is an error, you will be able to see it after you disable this setting.

PC shuts down. When you turn on the pc it shuts

try to change the source, that should solve the problem. But before try reset CMOS. (if you don`t know how to do it by jumper simple remove the battery from the mainboard for 5 minutes and then plug it back on..and after that turn on your computer and press F1 for default settings)

Speakers work fine, then they stop working...

This usually occurs if you have to much running in the background. Nothing to do with the speakers.

Try this;
start button>msconfig>startup tab>disable all (remember which you turned of so you can turn them back on later. Now reboot and then try your media player. If they work fine now, you know you are running out of memory. Either turn on only essential programs, or increase your computers ram (memory)

Computer clock

Not sure if this will help as my previous experience is that the clock starts at 12:00 each time it is started up.

In my case it was a flat computer battery that keeps the BIOS active when shut down, hence it was losing all it's settings each time it was shut down.

Note: This does not explain the looping, so this answer may be one "just to try" if no other answers come up.

Acer Aspire will not shut down.

  • Common problems are along the lines of what you are saying.
  • Start with the last installed program
  • ( Sony Video Camera ) and remove the program as follows.
  1. Click start, All programs ( it may be highlighted in the list ) look for your Sony Video program, wave the mouse over it to see if it has a menu ( look for uninstall Sony Video ) and follow the prompts.
  • If the program does not come with it's own uninstall program
  1. Click Start, Control Panel, Add or remove programs ( look for it in the list - most likely in alphabetical order, if you have it listed by name )
  2. Click on the program you want and click Remove the Sony Video program.
  3. Check to see if your PC will now reboot.
  4. Strange things happen if the either the software or hardware does not work the way it was intended to do.
  • Try to avoid a deliberate power down (with the button on the front of the case ) - which should be considered a forced shut down or emergency use only.
  • Remove the latest additions to your computer and try the shut down process again.
  • Being a lap top, you could fully charge the battery and take it to a repair guy, phone ahead and explain the situation. Eventually the unit will need to be powered down either way, but if it's in the hands of a repair man, little or no further harm can come to it.
  • If the PC powers back up and seems to run ok with the ram stick in place, it would suggest the ram is fine, but could also be the cause of the strange behavior, for whatever reason.
