if it has strut suspension, check for a failed bearing in the guard at the top of the strut
check for loose /worn rubber mounts on the stabilizer bar to chassis
I have 06 daytona with same problem clunking noise front passinger side Master Mechanic's checked steering and suspension components could not find the source. Problem is that sometimes noise stops then comes back. I will try to find the source myself tomorrow let you know what I find.
A clunking sound in the front is very often the CV joints. This should be more obvious in a slow tight turn. If it is not the CV and is more noticeable on rough roads it could be any one if the suspension joints.
It could be a couple of things.
Loose or worn out strut - (jack up car, remove tire and shake the strut really hard to see if it's loose. Check for signs of leaking or damage to strut)
Missing rubber isolator under front spring (visually inspect the suspension while tire is off).
Broken sway bar mount or missing rubber in the mount on the frame. (Lay under the front and look for where the sway bar mounts to the frame. Make sure everything is tight and the rubber is still in it.
have you checked the front saddles which sit ontop of the struts.they usually make a clunking noise when going over bumps or ruff surfaces, indicating they are worn
It's unlikely to be a ball joint on an '05. Make sure the mechanic jacks the car up under the lower control arm then checks radial and axiel (up and down). The sway bar links are bad about making noise.
