Question about Philips VOIP8411B/37 IP Phone
Even resetting the phone (reset all) results in this annoying message "system is starting up." No functions are available. Has anyone encountered this before and is there a solution? I have searched everywhere. Thanks! Vincent
I resolved this problem by unplugging the unit for a few seconds, waiting for the system to reset, then pushing the reset button, and waiting for the system to reset a second time. After that, the phone worked perfectly again.

I had a phillips voip 841 "system is starting up" problem. Removing the power supply to the base had no effect and neither did removing the ethernet cable. Rebooting the router didn't help.
While examing the base station I noticed a pin hole just above the telephone RJ 11 port marked "reset". Using a bent paper clip or toothpick GENTLY insert it into this pin hole until you feel that the reset button is depressed. This will reset the operating software. You might have to push and hold the reset button, that's what I did. After this the unit reset and the unit logged into Skype and displayed my Skype name and credit balance. :D

But this can't be a permanent solution. don't philips have any permanent solution for this.

I had the exact same problem.
I removed the power cord from the base unit for 2 min.
Put it back in.
Waited 1 min.
The handset was then displaying the normal stuff. (user name, credit for skype out, time, my skype status et c.)
I tried the calling the test service echo123 and it worked super.
