Scanner no longer communicates with the pc

Hi ,
Disconnect your unit from your pc ( usb and power)
Insert your install cd and run the program
Restart your pc
When Windows has settled , connect scanner back to pc .
It should run normaly .

Try going to manufactures web site and downloading drivers for the printer from there. Also you might check your device manager to see if the unit is being recognized by your computer. it should show up iunder USB or Printers. I had an Epson that did the same thing but mine was a wireless and I had to re-establish coneection and go through setup again to have my IP address recognized. Most of the time plug n play will pick up the new device.

You might also try running security and windows updates on your computer, there might be an update that is keeping the computer from recognising the printer anymore.

Its just a start of what could be going on, hope its an easy fix.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

Regarding the Cannon scanner error 2145,50. The MG5220 does this also. The actual problem is that the scanner will not communicate with the computer correctly if it is connected through a USB hub. A direct connection to the computer cures it, for me at least.

Install PC Suit Then

1. Set your message memory to memory card

2. Connect your phone to PC suite

3. Open communicator centre

4. Export all messages, or the messages you want to move to a folder on your computer.

5. disconnect your phone and change messagememory to C

6. connect again to pc suite.

7. Open communication centre and make a new folder called f.x: important messages.

8. mark the folder you've made and import the messages.

9. disconnect your phone from your pc.

10. Within messaging on your phone, you can move the messages back to inbox or leave them in your folder you made.

Hopefully you have now moved all messages from memorycard to C.

Sounds like your scanner is not longer connected to your PC- have you checked that the scanner is plugged into the PC. They can move an get dislogged

also check that the PC is still registering the scanner by

1. Close all applications.
2. Open the all-in-one product Toolbox, an icon on the desktop, or in the program group for the product.
3. Select the Services tab.
4. Select Test Product Communication.
5. When complete, and the test passes, open the application you want to scan into, and select the Scan option to verify the fix. For a list of the applications that support this feature, see the document "HP ScanPicture Utility Overview and List of Supported Applications."
6. If this does not work, uninstall and reinstall the software. Consult the User's Guide for assistance.

When communication is lost to the product (for example, the power was turned off and on), some features are lost. Running the communication test re-establishes communication between the computer and the product. Regards Liz

Power everything down, computer and scanner. Make sure your scanner is connected to the AC wall outlet, and to the pc. Then turn on your computer. Go to this link and type "cannot communicate with scanner" in the search box. Click Search. Then select the "ERROR: Cannot communicate with scanner" link. You will see several things to try to correct your problem. Usually, this error shows up if there is another USB device connected which prevents the computer from "seeing" the scanner, even though it can print without problem. So do try to disconnect any other USB device (except mouse or keyboard) and reboot the system.

The new PC was Vista and the CD that came with the scanner completed loading a driver without complaint. However, a new driver was needed for Vista. After downloading the new driver from Epson, uninstalling the old driver and installing the new driver, it worked.
