Re: SATA Problem with Maxtor 250 GB.

You need to post more information.

  • How does XP crash?
  • What error messages does it give you?
  • Did you double check your cables and BIOS settings?
  • Check out the MOBO manual and look for directions on the SATA ports, and boot device settings in the BIOS

Dear i am using ms-7142 v-1 motherboard. now i,m using ide 80 gb i want to connect 160 gb sata hdd.its not showing bios also.hdd is working fine.i reinstalled os.and installed sata raid driver

first thing I would try is seeing if the sata drive is recognised on another motherboard if at all possible ,in order to eliminate the motherboard as the issue. If it is recognised on a different motherboard it is more than likeley a bad cable or a bad board .

SATA drive not detected

If you will be loading xp on the new drive,You will just need to press F6 during the setup when ask if you want to install 3rd party driver, and follow the instruction and put the SATA driver disk in when ask.(Even during xp setup It will say SCSI device until all the drivers for it are loaded)

Ms-7061 msi motherboard will not install win xp with sata drive

The problem is that your version of XP does not have SATA drivers and therefore does not recognise your new drive. Vista does. If you Google the problem you will find many solutions on how to rectify the situation. Basically, you have to make a floppy disc with the correct drivers for your Motherboard's hard drive controller. Then, when you launch your Windows XP installer, it will ask you a question about needing to install 3rd party drivers. Yes is your answer. Tap F6 to ensure that the installer doesn't skip.Insert the floppy disc and then after the drivers are loaded, the installation will proceded normally. The other alternative is to leave your existing XP installation in place and add the new disc. Later you can clone your old disc onto the new drive and then remove your original disc.

How much big HDD can i connect to my ASUS-CUBX-L motherboard?

The size of the drive that will be detected can vary on a number of things: bios version, and OS.

They will both "physically" work, but the full capacity may not be "seen".

The 160 should work fine, but the 320 may only "show" as a 250 or 300.

My best advice is to flash the bios to the latest, and start with the 160. Install your OS, and connect the 320 as a slave after the OS install, and check its properties.

SATA II HDD instaling on ASUS P5LD2

No but you need to ensure that the drivers for your SATA controller are installed correctly (as they probably are not installed)

Cannot install any Windows OS system

My first course of action would be to isolate the problem. So what i would do is un hook one of the 500 gb Sata drives. Then try to install on one. Once you get it up and running hook the second one up and let windows find it. Also another note of thumb is make sure you have not over exceeded your ram slot capabilities. Find the techical manual on the manufactures web site. Each ram slot has a max amount and speed. If you exceed these it can cause windows programs to halt. I do think that if you isolate down to one sata drive install your os then add your second Sata you should be good to go. If you are still having problems feel free to contact me. TechWizard
