I can't find a camera repair shop in Vancouver that will service HP...do you know of any?
HP itself is of no help, they want me to buy a new camera....finances do not allow this.
    Thx,

Do you know of any repair shop in Vancouver...Vancam says no one repairs HP because they don't provide any schematics???
    Thx,

  • canyonpointe Dec 03, 2007

Thanks for your suggestions, much appreciated, but unfortunately that has not soslved the problem. I am sure it is not a major thing but HP will not help and the best camera shop in Vancouver says HP will not give them schematics, so repairing them is out of the question. It is my granddaughters camera and she is heartbroken that it is no longer working...buying a new one is out of the question but thanks so much for you time!
    Sincerely,
    Sharon

If the flash ready indicator light is working fine then your flash bulb is burned out already, try to set your camera to programmed setting or P, camera will auto setup except the flash mode. use available light as much as possible, dont worry digicam will gonna capture your desired pictures automatically when set in programmed settings or P settings.

I never use schematics when troubleshooting simple circuitry such as flash system (I'm not bragging), Most company never give schematics, monopoly is the reason. Japanese company differs, they even give training or advice how to fix their products.
It is not practical to replace internal flashbulbs cause its expensive. I suggest you practice shooting without using flash, shots are better when you know how to take without using flash. Available light or external lights are better, you get what you see, thats the advantage of digital technology. Learn digital photography without the help of flash, it is easier than what you think, and fun too!! [:0)

The flash bulb or tube does not go off suddenly. it gets weak after years of usege or breaks only if the camera is dropped. most of the flash related problems occur for non charging of the flash. pls contact local repairer for this problem.

    Changing flash settings

    Turning off the pop-up flash

The flash on the HP Photosmart 850 Digital Camera is normally turned off and will not fire until it is released.

    NOTE:
You cannot use the flash while recording video clips.

    Releasing the pop-up flash
To activate the flash, manually pop it up by sliding the pop-up flash ( ) release (shown in Figure 1) on top of the camera.

    Figure 1: Pop-up flash release
When the flash is popped up, it begins to charge and is automatically set to the Auto flash setting.

    Changing flash settings
To change the flash setting, press the Flash ( ) button (shown in Figure 2) on the back of the camera until the desired setting appears on the active display.

    Figure 2: Flash button
The following table describes the different flash settings.

    NOTE:
If you change the flash setting, the camera will remain in that setting until you change it or turn off the camera.

    ( )

The camera fires the flash to illuminate objects in the foreground. It then continues to expose as if the flash had not fired to gather the background.

    ( )
    Night with Red-eye Reduction
The camera fires the flash, using red-eye reduction if necessary, to illuminate objects in the foreground. It then continues to expose as if the flash had not fired to gather the background.

    NOTE:
Only the Flash On setting is available when you set the Exposure Mode in the Capture menu to either Aperture Priority or Shutter Priority.

    Turning off the pop-up flash
To turn the flash off, press the pop-up flash assembly down until it snaps shut. When the flash is off, the Flash Off ( ) icon appears at the top of the Live View screen.

Assuming that you haven't put the camera into a mode in which flash is disabled, either the charging capacitor or flash bulb is defective. It will have to be serviced so the appropriate part can be replaced.

The flash on my Panasonic DMC-FZ100 doesn't work, I've tried 'forced flash' and thats not working either?

Hello Ray, This is not something a user wants to attempt !!! The camera really needs to be repaired by a tech. You will do more harm than good by trying to fix it yourself and will cost even more if you damage something.

Best Regards, Russell

The pop up flash stopped working on my Nikon Coolpix L110 camera. Camera still works, but without the flash, the pictures are less than desirable. What can I do to correct this problem?

Check your settings first. If this still doesn't work then you'll have to take/send your camera to an authorized Nikon service center.

Fuji finepix f810 flash wont pop up when button pressed

hi your camera is kind of getting old but it is still great. some people really like it. personally I like also. however, fuji finepix f810 has little problem like yours due to delicate design. on your flash problem could has two sequence check. first is flash circuit defective or flash tube defective. second is main pcb doesn't work properly with flash function. your local repair shop would charge around $75 to 185. Fuji camera usually charge more than other brand. I am sorry that you know. Good luck with you and best regard.

Flash is not working

The flash icon appears in the upper left corner of display or it appears as circled flash icon? If flash is open and appears a circled icon, then there’s a malfunction contact that don’t communicate to the camera that the flash is open. Your camera needs service! Be sure the upper part of the flash is unfolded, pointing directly in front of the camera (not downward), because the sensor is just in this second folder. If the icon is not circled, press the right arrow until only the lightning symbol appears (forced flash). Try a shot! If the flash doesn’t pops, then your camera needs servicing (burned or broken lamp or other malfunctions).
