Hello: My V55 worked perfectly when I put it away a few months ago... now, I hear the audio from a video, but no picture. Are there settings on the ipod to switch around?

  • scottchy800 Aug 29, 2009

Thanks V1... after some "troubleshooting", I realized... that I shouldn't even be allowed to post this, but I should own up to it: i had the iPod turned on BEFORE I put it in the viewer. Once I turned it off and let the viewer power it on, it all worked. I feel extremely dumb! But, as frustrating as it was, there was nothign i saw on the www that addressed this.. or that there needs to be a specific order to the power cycle.. Hope my stupidity helps all out there :)

I'm pretty positive that the iPod will 'just work' when you plug it in to a device like that.

Since you said it was working perfectly a few months ago, I would suggest you clean it out as best as you can. Take it apart, blow it out, clean the connectors with isopropyl alcohol (the highest % you can find) and clean the connectors on the ipod too.

Do you perhaps have another device to test the video output on the iPod on? Do you have another iPod you could try in your V55? Try switching things around and see if you can narrow down the problem.

Hmm, that's something I wouldn't have thought of, and I've been playing with electronics of all kinds for years. A simple solution is not necessarily a dumb one, trust me I learn something new all the time ;)

I have a Denon AVR 1912 purchased 1 1/2 years ago. All I have hooked to it is the cable box and then it runs it out to the TV and surround sound. My Denon stopped sending the picture to the TV but I can...

I would double check all the connections to and from the Denon. Cables and poor sockets are the biggest problem with these kind of systems. Double check the settings of the Denon for outputting video signals.

I have a cable running from my set top box to another tv. Although i have a good picture there is not enough volume on the sound. It has worked perfectly well until I had to dismantle everything . I have a...

Hello,

This is not how you explain your problems to others. It should be precise. In this case, you could have said that you connected the cable between the RF out put of set-top box and RF input TV. Or Audio/video output of set-top box to Audio/video input of the TV. Also you did not mention, to which port you had connected the Vedeo recorder and DVD which are working good. Now, it may the volume level of the set-top box at low level which you can try to increase by using the remote control

If you could not sort out the problem explain how you had 'dismantled everything'

I dont get the sound, can see pictures.

hey sajith,

check all the audio and video cable's connected to tv and dvd player.
you may have forgot the wire color's (audio and video) there would be one wire for video and two for audio. some times there would be a RF socket also. so, see the right sockets and connect to tv by interchanging wires.

Okay im having a problem with my sonic impact v55 portable i cant see my videos but i can hear it through the speakers. before this, i had an ipod video 5th gen. now i have an ipod classic. it worked...

I'm sorry, but the bottom line is that you cannot watch videos on the V55 with a 5th gen iPod. 4th gens work fine though. Apple made this change in their iPods after several aftermarket companies began losing money in their products not selling. In response, iPod apparently teamed up with those companies and installed a chip to "decode" the video content. You can hear audio, but see no video. It stinks, I know. I am just glad that I have a 4th gen video iPod.

However, I am posting here because I am looking through posts and blogs to find out how to fix my V55 as the screen is intermitently going bad.

TV has picture but no sound

Hello jc_thunder,

It sounds like the audio section of the TV has a problem. If you were going to troubleshoot this yourself I would suggest that you do as a first step would be to inject an audio tone into the input of the audio amp to see if it were functioning, and if you could hear the tone through the speakers that would at least prove that the amplifier was good and the problem was further upstream. I believe that this TV uses an IC for quadrature detection which means the sound and video are separated in the same IC which means if the audio section of the chip is bad you would have to replace the component and it not be within your expertise to do that. So I would suggest that you either take it to a TV repair shop to be worked on, or to your local Vocational High School and give it to them for their electronics program instead of throwing it away.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

NO VIDEO

I have a Samsung 50" plasma, that has been blacking out over the last 6 months. A 9/2005 set. Now its practically unwatchable as it happens 3 times in an hour. Its not heat related - I have a high volume 9" fan activated on TV power on. Turning the set offf/on usually makes it come back for a now short while. Considering to go put it in the back of my pickup and park it in front of Best Buy and discourage Samsung purchases. This is the 2nd Samsung TV I've purchased (the other a 32" tube) I gave to my folks a couple years ago and its gone bad as well. Samsung product may look good, but their video engineers are not.

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time

If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
