Advent 8315 Screen blank when powered up

hi, I have a Advent 8315 Laptop. I sent it away last week sometime to get fixed as I couldnt connect to the Wifi. I got it back yesterday, when installing Norton onto my machine, with updates running in the backgroud, the screen went black, and the battery light on the front went red. There was power but nothing on the screen. I tried to do the reset by taking off battery etc and holding down the power button, but it was the same when I tried again. I have to send it away again which is something I dont really want to do, does anyone know why this may of happened or know of any solution? Many Thanks

did you check to see if that was the correct serial number of the laptop that you got back from the repair center
