Question about Flat Panel Televisions
I have a Sharp Aquos LC-42D64U LCD tv which is connected to an Onkyo TX-SR575 receiver. I have a 50' HDMI cable (hi-quality) connecting the tv to the receiver, which passes the HDMI signal from a Scientific Atlanta HD8300 HD-DVR and Pioneer upconverting DVD player. The HDMI cables used to connect the components to the receiver were EXTREMELY cheap 6' runs. The audio runs through digital coax for both components.
While everything worked great for a couple weeks, I am having a problem with the picture on my tv (the audio still works great, which leads me to believe that the problem is with the HDMI connections somewhere). DVDs now cut in and out to the point where they are impossible to watch; the picture goes to black, and then when it cuts back in (for a few seconds), the TV displays status messages that would seem to indicate a new connection being detected. The cable performs similarly, but with much less outage (problem seems to be far less severe). Both components occasionally display reddish, mostly-horizontal static all over the screen over the picture. Any ideas where the problem is likely to be?
I suggest contacting Sharp directly. I just did and received absolutely nothing from them. But if others such as myself who have the exact same problem as you ( I own a LC32D40U just over 2 yrs old) contact then maybe something can get done.
I will certainly NEVER recommend a Sharp product to anyone and will as of this moment respond to every message out there letting everyone know exactly how bad Sharp's product are. I would recommend the Sony XBR series to anyone looking for an LCD television.
