Display issue with Viewsonic VX2025wm dis...
I have an intermittant problem whereby I am using the computer and all of a sudden the display will go black, then flicker on and off every few seconds until I turn the computer off (and when the display flicks on it is fragmented). This happens especially often if I restart the computer when I get to the Windows start up screen, can you advise on what the issue is?

This could be a few things so we'll start with the cheap and easy one.
The first thing we want to check is cables and connections. First just grab the data cable at one end and gently move it it around while watching the display. You are watching to see if anything you do makes the display blink out or do anything abnormal. About every 6 inches repeat until you hit the other end. The second part of this is just taking the connector off of both ends (on some there is no connector on the monitor end) and putting them back in. Sometimes the connector can be slightly corroded or isn't quite mated right and all it takes is a bit of vibration (or something) and it blinks out. If this didn't do anything then we go on to the $$ fixes.
Usually with these types of problems I would suspect a back lighting or inverter board problem. These are fixable by a techie but you will spend about $120 or so to do it so check to make sure your monitor isn't still under warranty (factory or perhaps store purchase plan). You have to wait until it blinks out on you. Then You need to look at the screen very carefully and see if you can see an image. This will be very faint and hard to see. You can use a flashlight and shine it along an edge and sometimes that will reflect enough to help you make out an image. This should be a normal windows or mac (or whatever) desktop image and should even be able to make out your mouse moving around or other movement. If this is the case then your back lighting in the monitor is the problem. And because it is intermittent you won't know if you have fixed it until you replace the board with the bad part. This is a repair you try at home. If you search for inverter or LCD repair parts you should find several websites that sell parts and have instructions on what to do. The instructions are free so have a look at several until you find one you really understand. Then decide if this is a job you can tackle. If you can do it then it is worth fixing, if you take it to a shop you have to be careful as the bill can be more than a brand new monitor.
The last check is again when it blinks out. Use the flashlight again and look for that image. If you do not see on then we have a more serious problem. This means the image data from the computer is not getting to the display. The problem is usually in the monitor end but it can be the video card in the PC. If you swap the monitor for a different one and nothing happens again then it most likely is the monitor. If it happens again then you may need to replace the video card.

I experinced this in may had a virus here is a list and at that time only malware bytes was able to find it here is the list. You may also have a video card getting hot and doing the same thing, however do the virus check first. and let me know, And thanks for using Fix-ya and rate if this was helpful
