Jazz DV-179 Digital Camera Logo

Battery charging I recieved the Jazz DV179 as a gift. The battery was already in the camera, but I was told that I would have to charge it. I plugged the Camcorder into the wall and left it for over 24 hrs to charge, but when I remove it from the plug it shuts off. If i plug it back into the wall it comes on so i know the camcorder works. I am not sure on how to proceed next. Is there something wrong with the battery?, does the battry need and external charger before you insert it into the camcorder? or does it just take really long to charge?

I charged my Jazz DV179 over night. The red light was on steady and wasn't blinking. After charging, I unplugged the unit. I tried turning it on, nothing happened. I plugged the unit in, worked fine. I checked to make sure the battery was in the right way, it was. Any ideas. There is nothing in the manual.

    Thanks for your time.

Same problem with the camera not charging, I had the camera plugged in for probably two days and no charge. I realized that the battery was upside down. I had to line up the arrow on the battery and then line up the negative, positive, and the capital T in order for it to work. Works fine now!

When you charge the battery for the first time you have to keep the battery on the charge for 10 hours(recommended) and after this charge the battery have an autonomy of approximately 1 hour to 1 1/2 hrs for a full recharge it take about 3 hours when you plug the ac adaptor the red light on the front is flashing and then stop blinking when the battery is full.

I had a similar problem, but it turns out the prongs were plugged upside down in the outlet. :)
