Question about Honeywell DH835 Humidifier

Filter I don't have a manual for this wonderful machine? Where does the filter go? and what size? where do I find one?

I ordered Honeywell brand HC-835 replacement filters for the Honeywell/Robitussin DH-835 humidifier. I found the replacement filter is very much shorter than the originals (came with purchase of humidifier). I am wondering if this affects its effectiveness.

I live in a very dry part of the country, and it is a challenge to get the (bedroom) humidity up to 50%. Today, after running the machine for 12 hours (with a rather worn filter, I admit), the room humidity went from just under 30% to just over 30%. We are experiencing especially high winds off the desert today (coastal So California).

Is this short replacement filter adequate to the task?

ANOTHER problem: How do you clean the fan? It looks very well secured and it appears covered with black dirt or (God forbid!) mold. I am concerned about the machine putting allergens (dust, mold) into the air!

If you email me at, I can send you a pdf of the manual for this product. I had the same model and was able to remove the fan cover by slightly twisting it and pulling up -- was able to clean the unit very well once I removed the cover! good luck...

You may be able to use filters from the stove overhead filters.Stove suppliers sell filters which can be cut to size.
The filters are usually the same as those used for air conditioners.

Fuel filtrer. i'm trying to find where it is located on 1991

Fuel travels from the gas tank in the rear via the pump located in the tank. The fuel line travels under the driver's side of the car up into the engine bay, then enters the fuel filter, which is located on top of the driver's front fender in the engine bay. It's about the size of the bottom of a beer can and then the fuel heads on into the injection system on the engine.

Cant find old furnace filter for model # fguj080abn

The furnace model is irrelevant. The important question is usually the dimensions of the opening for the filters. The most common sizes are 16"x25"x1", 20"x25"x1", 16x25x5, etcetera. There are exceptions such as specialty filters like electronic ones. I suggest using inexpensive pleated filters but you could just use filters that you cut to fit instead. Have a helpful gasfitter assist you if necessary.

Fan is running but humidity is not changing

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.
First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture
as your air is already saturated.

UV bulb and filter are user replacement items

Comment by Soulvisitor, posted on Jan 20, 2008 Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don’t see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?
Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no
“mist” emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the
water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit
is operating normally.

Clean/refill light

My Slant Fin humidifier has a floating, ring-shaped magnetic level that isn't replaceable. You can't even tell it's magnetic until you cut off the piece that prevents the white plastic float from rising past a certain point. It turns out that there is a ring-shaped magnet in the float.

I found that the Refill light would go off when I held a strong magnet near the float device.

So, I have suspended the magnet with string from the top of the humidifier outside the humidifier.

Caution: This fix disables the safety feature inherent in the low level shut off. I wonder why the manufacturer uses material that corrodes?

Hunidifier doesn't add enough moisture to air

here is the link to the manual for the w7 - they suggest a replacement wick filter would solve the problem due to bacteria or mineral build up - i would expect this to solve your problem as the only way these wicks can not soak up the water to the top is if they are clogged or the tank is empty. try the cleaning routine on page 9 first - might be enough but the wicks probably will need replacing soon anyway. Hope this helps :)
