Question about U-Line 75R Refrigerator

Lighns on - nothing else

I have a U-Line 75R. It has stopped working, although the light comes on when you open the door - so there is power. When we first got the refrigerator, it did the same thing. The service guy came out, said it was the defrost timer, and reset it. The unit has worked fine since (about 5 years). Assuming that this is the solution this time, how do you "reset the defrost timer?"

Re: Lighns on - nothing else

The 75R does not have a timer. The fan & compressor are powered on the same power leads, downstream from the thermostat. Interior light operation confirms power to the unit. It does sound like thermostat could be the problem. Visit to contact U-Line's Support Website.

Be careful, the thermostat does switch line voltage (120VAC). You must unplug the unit to service

Re: Lighns on - nothing else

It's likely the thermostat. My parent's just diagnosed their 75R for that. Jumpered across the thermostat connections and the compressor and fan kick in.

Well i have a 75r also with the same symptoms but there's no freezer in this model so I don't know how it could be the defrost timer.

My u-line 75rfb-00 refrigerator wont get cold the light comes on the motor sounds as if its working but it only gets cool not cold ?

Then you need to see if the compressor is running or is it the fan? You migh be hearing the compressor come on for a short while. The fan might not be running. Replace the fan if its not running

Refrigerator compressor motor will not run.

Does the fan work? If yes then the compressor has a relay and overload that might be bad. Or it could be a compressor that is bad. If its a compressor then you will need to have a tech verify that it is the problem. If nothing is running then it could be a thermostat thats not switching it on. Let me know if you need any more help with it.

E3 stands for door open longer than 20 minutes, It may be bad door switch, door switch magnet misalign. You can test the door switch when you open and close the door, it should make a clicking sound, if not, you door switch either is bad or misalign.
