Have you tried doing a factory reset of the firmware as described in the user manual? To do this, first power off your RX65 using its power button. Then hold down the two buttons which are used to enter Program Mode and, while holding down these two buttons, press the Power button again. Release all three buttons when the word "Reset" is displayed on the LED display. Obviously, if the display doesn't light up, then either the display itself is defective or one of its display leads has a cold solder joint.
If your RX65 is in warranty and you can make a photocopy of your sales receipt, then Bel will repair it at no charge. You will have to pay the shipping cost to Bel.
This means that the primary local oscillator couldn't be calibrated during the RD's self-calibration procedure. You could get your RD repaird by Bel/Escort, but with these older models, your best bet would be to take advantage of Bel/Escort's trade-in offer to get a current model which provides significantly better performance -- particularly with regards to Ka band radar.
I have the same detector and my sound just went out, I called the number on the label on the bottom. They where very friendly and told me that it was more than likely the little speaker, they sell them for $8, if you are handy with a soldering iron its a simple task.
Call bel, the number is on the label on the bottom, I am having the same problem with mine, he was very helpful and said it was probably the speaker which they sell for $8. If your handy with a soldering iron its simple repair. Or they offer a trade up service, giving you like $80 towards a new unit.
