Red goes on the left black goes on the right, white goes in the middle, and the green connects to ground screw on cover you removed to expose wires.
The wiring color code is as follows:
RED - HOT (120 VAC)
BLACK - HOT (120 VAC)
WHITE - NEUTRAL (0 VAC)
GREEN - GROUND
If there is no color code at the terminal block, the outer two terminals on the left and right of the terminal block is where the two HOT leads go. The middle terminal is for NEUTRAL. The GROUND wire gets connected to the equipment casing on a ground lug. DO NOT connect the neutral and ground together on a 4-wire configuration. If you have questions, you can refer to this link:
