Problem with Canon PowerShot S30 Digital Camera -

When I use the AV cable to view the pictures on TV, somehow I'm getting black and blur images now (it was not like this before) - is the problem with the camera or with the cable?

Your PAL/NTSC settings must have changed. You'll find this in the camera menu somewhere.

Try to see if you can connect the cable to a TV and see if it will do the same thing.

Example: camera - cable plug - to Input of TV.

Blurred and distorted view of the subject

Its possible that there is a CCD issue with your camera. I've been reading more and more people are having CCD issues with the S1-IS. The CCD is the part of the camera that captures the image, and usually they distort or do some funky things with the pictures. Its entirely possible they would knock something out of focus.

Canon Powershot A75 blurred LCD display

It sounds like the focus element in your lens is not functioning properly. Does the lens retract completely when you turn off the camera? When you push the button does the camera attempt to focus the image? If you do not see any change in the image when you push the button, and do not hear any sound - then your focus motor is either jammed or malfunctioning. David Millier Advance Camera Repair
