Re: LG VX5200

Today 01/23/09 I had the same "car kit" message on my cell phone. After inspecting my charging port connection area I noticed corrosion on the connector. I applied DeoxIT D100L by CAIG Laboratories and cured the problem. I am now able to use my phone again.

Hi there, i guess the problem of your phone is not on the settings. its the external interface its like hes connecting a car kit or head set but its not cuz' the contacts inside it is shorted. so you have to service that. ok...

I'm a verizon customer who bought an LG Dare on ebay, I gave verizon online my MEID and it told me to call *228 to activate, but my phone says service required and I can't dial out.

Try to use the MEID info in the #help*help screen to try to activate the phone.
If you still cannot, you need to fix MEID and ESN file on your phone.

you are going to have to find the last 4 digits of your phone number, because that is the unlock code.

If you dont have a way of finding it, maybe you could try moving the SIM card into another cellular phone of the same provider and calling from that.

Hope it helped.

Set to car kit.

I reinserted the wall charger a couple of times and it made the "car kit" go away. My guess is that two pins in the little connector inside the phone somehow got shorted together (dust or something). I saved the butter knife soloution for my last ditch attempt as I wasn't sure that shorting all the pins wouldn't increase the chances of damage to the phone. The post above definitely go the creative juices flowing since we had no idea how it got in "car kit" mode.

It means you need to take your phone in to get it serviced, i.e. repaired. You can get it fixed by taking it in for service
