3 YR OLD HDTV HAS DEVELOPED A LARGE YELLOW SPOT IN CENTER OF PICTURE. REPLACED HALOGEN BULB BUT NOT HELP. HAS THIS OCCURRED TO OTHERS.
Its your light engine failing. It can cause different colored "spots or ovals" to appear in the black background.
My Zenith ( now LG ) E44W46 LCD had the engine replaced after only 10 months, and now 3 years later it is failing again. There is a lawsuit against LG for using defective engine assemblies in this particular model.
After much searching I located this number, 800.243.0000 and called from work this past Monday at 8:15 a.m. central time. I was blown away to actually have someone pick up and direct me to a rep who reassured me that LG was aware and has set up a department to handle claims.
I was issued a case number and told that I will be contacted by a rep from this "department" and they would replace the set. With what I don't know yet but I will post back after I get thier final answer and the details.
Light engine. Call hitachi customer relations, they are giving them to you at your cost to get it installed.

I have the same problem, except ours is a huge red spot in middle of TV. It only shows when well when turning off or on night scenes on TV. Any answers for this problem? Thanks

I have a 42" Zenith same problem. I still have it under warranty with Best buy and plan to take it in
realsoct2 did you hear anything else about getting the light engine replaced yet?
My grandmas tv is having the same problem and it is out of warrenty and at the price for a new one hopefully it's not just gonna have to be thrown away.
