There's a setting for the touchpad component that prevents inadvertent slips and slides of your palms over the touchpad from causing the cursor to jump around. I forget the exact name, but once you see it you'll know it. Go to Control Panel->Mouse->Hardware and you may see the touchpad configuration screens.
Good luck!

Hi,
I believe I can help in what you are experiencing with your jumping cursor concern. you mentioned that you downloaded a driver, try downloading touch freeze, google it it will give you links where to download it and it is free, this should fix your jumping cursor issue

any of the links will lead you to the downloads page for the application.
once downloaded this is what you should see on your task bar, see image below. an icon of a touchpad with a check mark on it.

My cursor jumps back when I type. I am not hitting the touch pad...help

You're probably having a jumping cursor where the cursor jumps from one place to another while typing an email or something. To fix this Go to control panel - hardware - mouse then look for the check box that you can tick on that says "Tap off while typing" and this should fix the problem.

Should you have any other questions just please leave a message.

Cheers~

Cursor jumps around

Does the cursor jump around when your hands are nowhere near the touchpad? The touchpads are heat and pressure sensitive. I personally have very warm (and sometimes sweaty) hands. I have this problem often when working on laptops. If I hover my hands over the pad, it causes the mouse to move. I've had to take a business card, put tape on one side of it, and use it as a flip-cover for the touchpad on most of my laptops. If the cursor moves around when you're nowhere near the laptop, then you may want to try disabling the pointing stick (if it has one). I've had several clients with laptops where the pointing stick mouse control go crazy and move and click on things.

I thought the problem was fixed but I spoke up to quick.

The problem with the cursor jumping to another line, continues.

The $9.95 I payed was for not.

I can't type this without the cursor going to another line I
have already typed.

Cursor jumps around

Try this software:

http://code.google.com/p/touchfreeze/downloads/list

Touch Freeze will disable the touchpad when you start typing. I have not used it, but give it a try.

Also, your touchpad could be wearing out or a driver reinstall could be in order. My wifes Toshiba had a bad touchpad and the cursor would jump all over the place. I disabled it and she now uses an external mouse. No problems anymore.
