Ice Maker Not Working

I am having problems with the ice maker. No water is coming in (only to the water dispenser part) and nothing on the ice maker, the arms or anything, is moving. This happened a few months back as well but it started working again on its own after about a day.

I did the optics test and I get 2 blinks when I open the door and the solid light when I press the emitter. I squeezed the black nozzle that goes into the water fill cup and a small chunk of ice fell out, so I thought it may be clogged similar to the issue others have had. I injected some hot water with a baster but that didn't solve the problem so far. One thing I noticed when I was injecting water was that some of it was dripping out the back of the fridge where the tube goes into the freezer at the top.

I wanted to pull the nozzle and tube out like in the service manual but there isn't much give. There is no fitting that allows the tube to be removed like it shows in the manual. The tube goes right into a valve type thing at the bottom back of the fridge and I'm not sure how to remove the tube.

I tried the trick putting a jumper between T and H but nothing happened. I'm not sure whether the ejector arms are at 2:00 or 10:00 but they point away from me when looking at it mounted. I read about manually making the water go into the ice maker through the solenoid, but how do I do that?

Sorry for the long post but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot for the quick response. So here is an update: I was getting ready to try the solution you posted. I took the ice maker out of its mount and left it connected and sitting on the shelf. I also squeezed and moved around the black nozzle a little and a chunk of ice fell out.

I went to double check your instructions and when I returned to the fridge I heard a noise that sounded like water. I opened the fridge and water was coming out of the nozzle and getting everywhere. The ejector blades were also now pointed towards me in the 2:00 position, which I assume is the home position?

I quickly rushed to try and get the ice maker back on the mount but it was tough because of the tight space. By the time I got it mounted the water had stopped but I was hoping that the problem was fixed and was just an ice clog.

I waited and kept checking on it periodically but nothing happened. I left it overnight and nothing happened. I then tried your instructions with the jumper and nothing happened. I checked the white gear on the module and it looks like one of the clips may be broken, but I'm not sure. One clip does stick out further than the other; I wish I could take a picture and show it. If it was broken though, would the ejector blades have been able to rotate from the 10:00 position to the 2:00 position?

What should I do now? Could a clog in the line still be the problem? If so, how should I use a hair dryer? Should I just point it at the black nozzle where it comes into the freezer?

Sorry again for the long post.

I have a 596.58697890 with ice maker that freezes up at the inlet tube a back wall. There was a metal tube connecting back wall to the tube going to the ice maker, i replaced it with plastic and that helped but it still freezes at the wall connection every few days. the hair dryer trick works, ice comes out of wall connector melts and then it works for a few days. replaced filter, checked flow to valve on refer, and checked temp settings

Well it's been a while but I finally got around to getting a new module and trying to fix it.

I disconnected the icemaker from the freezer and switched modules by
taking out the 3 screws. I jumpered the T and H with a wire
(about 2 inches long stripped 5/8th of an inch on one side and 1/2 inch
on the other), plugged the icemaker back and then plugged the fridge
    back on.

I waited 50 seconds and nothing happened. I tried a few more
times and still nothing happened. I even left it there for a
    while but nothing happened.

I'm not sure if I'm doing the procedure correctly but it doesn't seem to be working. Please help. Thanks.

I just used the jumper wire and it worked!! I had to press and release the light switch 3 x before the gear began moving.

Vik, the ejector blades should be pointing toward you in the 2:00 position when the ice maker is home. This tends to make me believe that your module is bad. Pull the ice maker out again and check the center white gear. There should be 2 clips holding it on. If one of those clips broke, the gear will not rotate right. Another thing you mentioned is that you had water on the back side where the line goes into the fill tube. You may have a frozen inlet tube too. If the tube is frozen, the pressure will force it out the back by that connection. Pulling that tube out can be a pain, try using a hair dryer if the baster not working. On this model, you can't just jump T&H to start the cycle because of the immiters. Follow these instructions to start a cycle.
To jump start the ice maker do the following: Unplug the refrigerator. With the ice maker out of it’s mount but connected to the harness use a insulated jumper wire stripped a quarter inch on each end and place the jumper in the holes marked T & H on the module. Place the ice maker with the jumper in, on the shelf with enough clearance to close the freezer door. Close the freezer door. Plug the refrigerator back in and wait 50 seconds. Now open the door and see if the module is rotating. If so remove the jumper, put the cover back on the module and place the ice maker back in its mount. The water fill should take place when the ejector blades are at the 12:00 position. Note that on some models, after you have done the aforementioned proceedure you have to press and release the light switch 3 times for the module to start.

Vik, o,k, you don't have to worry about the frozen inlet tube, the water came. Im almost positive that your module is bad. The fact that one clip is out further is the tell tail. If that clip is broken the gear will ride off the motor and you will get erratic operation. The fact that you said the blades were in the 10:00 positon on your first post insures that. That module is easy to replace, 3 screws. Just line up the ejector blades in the 2:00 position when you put the new one on. You will save yourself a ton of money doing it yourself. Then follow my instructions again to jump start it when the new module is in. Catriver

Samsung side by side ice maker not working

You have 2 separate valves, 1 for the water dispenser and 1 for the ice maker. (otherwise your ice maker would overflow every time you got water from the dispenser and your dispenser would flow every time the ice maker went to refill.) They are fed from the same tubing.

The cube/crushed ice motor is completely separate from the ice maker itself and should have absolutely no bearing on the water flow.

You have narrowed down the problem quite nicely to the ice maker water valve. There is one more thing to check though, the connector. There should be a multi-contact connector from the ice maker to the back wall of the freezer, usually 6-9 wires. Pull that apart and check the cord side (ice maker side) for any corrosion. BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE OTHER SIDE AS THERE IS LIVE 110V!!! If you don't see any corrosion, still try try disconnecting and reconnecting 5-10 times and see if that solves your problem. If you see corrosion, unplug the refrigerator before working on the back wall part of the connector. [This connector besides powering the ice maker also allows the ice maker to control the water valve which can't be inside the freezer]

Ice maker stopped working water coming out of front of door. what to do?

There are two sides to a water control valve Cindy. One side for the dispenser and one side for the ice maker. Feel inside the ice maker slots for any remaining ice cubes. If the ice maker has no ice fill with tap water and if after the water freezes and drops the ice into the ice container and then does not refill with water the problem points to the dual water control valve. If the ice just sits in the ice maker and does nothing then this points to a defective ice maker. What is the model number of the refrigerator?

GE GSH25JFRF BB ice maker doesn't dispense. Water dispenses and ice maker makes ice but won't come out.

There should be a plastice hinge cover on the left top hinge on freezer door. Take it off and press the plug together firmly. Try that and let me know, Sea Breeze

Water leak from ice dispenser line

Your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in is probably leaking. disconnect the water line coming out of it and see if you have a slow drip. Try the dispenser to see if it's just drips after use.

For the ice maker problem, Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear. If it does, the problem is the ice maker and not the valve and line...

Take the icemaker out and let it sit in the sink for around 12 hours. Then put it back in. This has worked for me when I have the same problem. I think that the water line is freezing up. I have to do this every month or two.

The icemakers won't make ice if the temperature is not below a certain set point. Varies between manufacturers. Try making the temp colder.
