you wasnt suposed to.cut the wire
what you was need to do is go to radio.shack, walmart or best buy and get a thing its call wiring harness adapter and look.for the right one that fits your car by year and model hope this helps
As long as you haven't cut the wires in the dash of the vehicle, all you need to do is purchase the appropriate wiring harness for the model of car you are installing into. That harness will match perfectly to the Clarion's harness (i.e; red to red, purple to purple, etc..). If you HAVE cut the vehicles wiring, it's a LOT more work. What kind of vehicle are you installing into?
GO PURCHASE THE WIRE HARNESS ADAPTER FOR THE CAR FROM PEPBOYS AND THEN EVERYTHING IS COLOR CODED FROM THAT CLIP TO THE RADIO CLIP DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CUT THE STOCK CLIP OFF FOR THE $15 UR GONNA SAVE IT IS NOT WORTH IT
You should have gotten a plug-in harness with your new Alpine. To avoid cutting or tapping the wires on your vehicle, you need to purchase an aftermarket wiring harness. It appears that the Metra 70-1782 is the correct one for the 1990 Prizm.
Then you simply match up the wires on your Alpine harness with the Metra harness. The wiring color code for the harness is shown on the bottom left of the "description" tab and matches up with the Alpine color code on page 18 of your owners manual.
