-   Acer Aspire 3100, boots to XP but cannot work the cursor from touch pad or from USB mouse. Cannot gain control of the laptop. Not my device just helping a friend. A shop updated their anti-virus protection but did not register it properly. I registered it and got everything working. The owner used it that night all fine. Then plugged in a new USB cable (one with the flashy blue led's in it) to connect a printer. this caused the freeze up. Since then its been cold booted a number of times always the same outcome. I cant get to the Bios proper, only options on acer are <f2> which gives windows boot order not bios setup. keyboard and pointers don't work in <f2> screen either. Looks like a bios/motherboard issue.-   Guest

I have had my laptop since Feb 2009 and the top corners have small pieces that have broken off. The computer is not rough housed with, but have noticed that when I have taken it in and out of the case more often that a store rep recommended that I buy to keep it protected the problem has occured. I have the 2yr PREM NB repair but I am wondering if the case/bag that I use to protect it is just going to cause the same problem again. Any ideas on what to do?

i have an acer travelmate 4010 laptop with windows xp professional. i recently purchased a wastern digital 320GB hard drive (wd3200beve). when i installed it, windows only sees 137GB. when i take the drive out of the computer, and put it in an enclosure and connect it via usb, the computer will see the full 320GB. i have updated bios and everything with updated drivers from acers website, but it still won't see the full size when connected internally. is there anyway to get the computer to see the full size of the drive when it is connected internally? thanks
