Question about Philips CDR770 CD Recorder

1 Answer

Finalizing Error ok, i just purchased this from a friend and i was testing it out and everything worked fine. So i started to burn more of my vinyls on to a digital audio cd-r. There are 10 songs on there which total up to 30 minutes, i finished recording and i am trying to finalize it but it just goes from 2:10-1:45 and just stops. Is there any solution to this problem? Thanks

Re: Finalizing Error

You can try finalizing the disc on another machine.Have you tried a different disc? You may have a laser issue.

Do you have a switch to select the size of the record as well? We had a record player that could play 7" singles at 33rpm (floppy vinyls given away by Sunday papers). We had to select 33rpm and also 7" on a separate lever for this to work.

Front panel on machine just reads ..disc not finalised.what does this mean please?

Are the discs ones that you created (burned), someone else burned, or commercial discs? The message of disc not finalized usually appears when you put a CD or DVD from one unit into anther without closing (finalizing) the disc. The finalization step doesn't matter if the disc is being moved between computers with compatible OS versions (for example: XP through Windows 7). However, any other device will need this procedure completed.

Take the disc back to the unit (computer or other burner) where the disc was burned. If the computer uses Windows, put the disc in the optical drive. Open My Computer (Computer) depending on the OS by double left-clicking on the icon on the desktop. Right click on the optical drive and select Close Session.

If you created the CD on another machine, check the details for that device.

Note: you should double-check that the format that you burned to disc is compatible with this CD player. Not all models support MP3 files. On my own older CD player, I had to burn WAV files without gaps in a Disc At Once format to get the discs to play without skips.

I hope this helps.

(if the discs were commercial discs or have been finalized, I would expect a different error. In that case, I'd suspect a tracking problem and a "No Disc" error.)

I'm having a problem saving disc titles with certain discs.

When you produce your cd's you need to manually enter the title, production date etc. before burning them. Otherwise the disc will have nothing for the player to read. Also, if your mp3 files have corrupted ID3v2 tags then the name, artist, etc. will not show up. Roxio has a tag editor utility. Another thing that sometimes causes players trouble is unfinalized discs. If you are not finalizing, do so.

Good luck,

Disk or software error

You may be copying discs that have Digital Rights Management, or DRM encoded on the disc. You should have "burn rights" before trying to run copyrighted material...accordianman

Sony rcd w500c recorder

Higher laser power is needed for high speed dubbing - does it work ok at normal speed? If so would point to a failing laser. Sony charge a lot for these but in the US there may be a fixed fee out of warranty repair cost.
